Instagrammable Bagels in Buckhead

Spread Bagelry has popped up all over my instagram feed with a new location in Buckhead. The bagelry specializes in wood-fired bagels boiled in honey sweetened water (if your version of vegan excludes honey, I would opt for the avocado toast or peanut butter and jam sandwich options - or stick to coffee/tea) which adheres to the Montreal Style.

I ordered an everything bagel with plant-based cream cheese and cucumber along with a vanilla bean iced oat milk latte.

I’ll start with the positive - the flavors were great. The cream cheese was definitely quality and the bagel had a good crunch. The coffee was also very tasty and well-made. Even though the restaurant was busy, the service was pretty fast and there was both indoor and outdoor seating available.

On the other hand, the honey-sweetened boiling water would limit the menu for stricter vegans. Vegetarian and dairy-free options are galore though.

There was a major lack of cream cheese on the bagel. With plant-based cream cheese being significantly more expensive than plain cream cheese, I was disappointed to see it only spread lightly on a single side of the bagel.

Parking was also a major issue and many people were parked illegally. For as much parking surrounds the area, all of it was in restricted, tow/boot lots. Spread only had 3 designated spots which it shares with neighboring businesses.

Overall, the quality of the food was good, but it might be a bit more instagram hype than it delivers. Still, with a lack of bagel spots in the Buckhead Village area, it’s a solid choice.

Pros: Plant-Based Cream Cheese, Plant-Based Milks, Avocado Toast

Cons: No Parking, Honey-Water in Boiling, Stingy on Cream Cheese
