Delicious!

We unexpectedly ended up in Port Orchard around the lunch hour and decided to check out Spiro’s. We called ahead and confirmed their dough was vegan and that they had vegan cheese, pepperoni, meatballs, and sausage. We ended up ordering a vegan pie with mushroom, black olives, sausage and pepperoni. It was delicious. Highly recommend!

Owner is vegan

The pizza was pretty good. It had dairy free mozerella. I noticed they did have some plant based meats as well. There’s no egg in the dough. The server told me the owner is vegan and they took the egg out of the pizza dough.

No vegan options

The pizza dough has eggs in it.

Pros: Nothing.

Cons: No vegan options.

That’s idiotic. Why even offer vegan cheese and such if the crust isn’t even vegan?

What’s especially frustrating about that is the fact the pizza dough doesn’t require eggs. So to add it, one is choosing to do so. :/

The server told me today that the dough no longer has eggs.

Finally a vegan pan pizza.

Grew up with Spiro's, worked at Spiro's in Silverdale for a while, was wary after seeing the prep methods there, but the Port Orchard location is a different owner, and their menu is different, be aware of this, since Silverdale has basically 0 vegan options or accommodations.

The plant-based sausage/pepperoni (I think they make meatballs now too?) are great, they're kind of strange looking (almost like little lab blobs, very geometric) but they went with taste way over the visuals, but that doesn't even matter and it's endearing anyways, I mention it because their sausage and pepperoni look very similar but they probably use a similar house-made base and just different seasonings.
They taste great though, very well seasoned and

Pizza is really good! I missed Spiro's. The price of restaurant pizza is always a little higher, but I found this was actually muuuuuch better value than say, Farelli's. And it tastes significantly better. Finally a place that doesn't just give in to the wood-fired hype and makes traditional greasy pan pizzas with thick crust.

If I lived closer I'd visit here more often. Wish Silverdale would embrace some of these changes and make small adjustments to their dough recipes to also remove animal products. If I remember right it was only 1-2 eggs for some 50-70 pizzas worth of dough, and they could use a vegetable oil on their pans instead of crisco.

Pros: House-made vegan 'meat', not just store bought, Big pizzas, big crust, not skimpy on toppings, Pricey, but great value

Cons: No vegan dipping sauces, Vegan pizza only on Create-your-own, Still serve animal products
