I'll be back - Edit

Spice of Life is actually in pretty Port Dalhousie on a cute little pedestrian street, less than a minute walk from the main beach. There is a large patio with umbrellas in addition to the interior which is lovely in the summer.

The menu is nearly half veggie (and it has gluten-free options), with an attractive diversity of options, and a staff who knows exactly what's in what.

My experience started badly. We came at 1 pm on a Sunday for brunch, and although the sign said that brunch was until 2 pm, the chef had decided to switch over to lunch an hour early without warning. My five companions were not impressed, as they needed breakfast hangover food, stat. The chef was cranky/uppity (we could hear her from our table outside) and made a couple of comments during the ordering process that were unprofessional. Minus one cow. :-(

I had the homemade veggie burger with a side of red lentil soup ($9). Both were wholesome and delicious. Their fries were made from thick, freshly cut potatoes with the skins still on. Very nice.

I can't wait to go back sometime and try something else!

Pros: lovely area, aware of veg*n needs, reasonable prices

Cons: cranky chef, changed times on us

highly over rated - Edit

I have eaten here several times over the years. My mom loves this place and I have heard others rave about it as well. Everytime I have been we have had a different server. They all seem to be working their first shift ever. One was so bad we had to complain to the owner, who didnt seem to care. We would never complain like this, but it really was that horrible an experience. The food has always been amazing. That is until the last time we went, everything was perfect until we got our vegan cheesecake. It was unedible, which made me wonder if the other time we had eaten it there, maybe they gave us real cheesecake?

Pros: great food, great selection

Cons: bad service, expensive

Variety is .... - Edit

Been twice, once for lunch and once for supper, had the vegan medley, pepper pizza, fried veggies, vegan caesar salad and more. All of the food was amazing and I thought the portion sizes/originality of the menu made the prices legitimate. Service is a little lacking though. Spice of Life easily has the most Vegan options of any restaurant I have been to in the Niagara Region. Going is a must.

Pros: Great Food , Most Original Vegan Options in the Area

Cons: Service is meh.
