Mysterious and fun - Edit
An old house has been converted to a restaurant and the food does not disappoint. However, there is no one to seat you or ask questions about menu items and ingredients to. Everything is ordered through your phone on toast tab and then the one employee brings out the food. Great food and very low wait time after ordering.
Read morePros: High quality food, No sugarcoating the experience, Low wait time for food
Cons: No server, hostess, employee to ask questions to, Out of several menu items when ordering online

Unexpectedly amazing food - Edit
Despite a kind of grungy interior, which had me questioning food quality, the food was AMAZING. Specifically the BLT and trotsky tots. Wow 🤩

tasty but NOT fully vegan - Edit
First, this place is NOT fully vegan (even though it’s listed as vegan here on the app). At the moment, they have at least one cocktail (Marxist Coffee) made with DAIRY condensed milk and at least one cocktail made with HONEY (I believe it was called Strawberry Brew).
Read moreSecond, you order at the table via your phone. This is fine, as long as you have a smart phone, BUT the offerings seem to differ depending on whether you have an iPhone or an Android. The person I was with had and Android, and for them many dishes were shown as “out of stock,” while I have an iPhone and was able to order those dishes without a problem.
This also means that you won’t see a waiter unless they’re delivering your food, so you have to track them down if you want salt or an extra napkin or something.
The inside is small and stuffy (why no AC in the summer? DC summers are very muggy). And their online menu is not up to date, so don’t get your heart set on something until you get there. They also served my drink in a glass (made of glass) that had a crack in, which seems unsafe.
The food was fairly tasty, though a bit on the dryer side and some of the dishes seem overpriced for what you get (like the Pelmeni).
The best tasting dish was the Peasant Potatoes. You can get them as an appetizer or as a side with a burger. I would get the BLT and potatoes again, but not sure about the other dishes I tried.
Pros: Peasant Potatoes were good , located in hip DC neighborhood
Cons: NOT fully vegan, iPhone/Android phone changes what you can order, food is a bit dry and some is overpriced

Interesting food, unjustifiable prices - Edit
The food served here is pretty innovative, but not necessarily in a good way. I've enjoyed about half of my meals here, but leave hungry more often than not, having spent more than I'd like to for the meal.

Cool spot but... - Edit
I ordered the vareniki dumplings with a mushroom and potato filling and they were good, but alone they were not satisfying enough for a meal, at least for how hungry I was when I came. To be fair I'm not a big fan of Eastern European food so some of the heartier sounding dishes on the menu didn't appeal to me. I came here for a meetup event and I loved the environment/vibe of the restaurant so I may return and just treat this more as a place for a light meal or snack than a full dinner. But if you enjoy Eastern European food more than I do, I'm sure you'd leave satisfied. It's definitely a unique spot in DC.

With limited time in DC, I traveled across the city to check out this place and it did not disappoint! The vibe is so cool and the food is excellent.

Great Food - Edit
The food at Spacycloud was all vegan and delicious. Highly recommend the fish. We ordered the fish n chips and the dumplings. Everything was seasoned well and the sauce with the fish n chips was excellent. Outdoor seating available. May be short on staff currently and service wasn’t excellent but we were still pleased with the quality of the food

A nice gem in Adams Morgan - Edit
When you think of Eastern European food, you don't exactly think vegan friendly, but that's what sPACYcLOUd is. The restaurant serves various types of fried root vegetable appetizers and two types of dumplings, among other things. The Trotzky fries (made of yucca root) came wrapped in a cone of faux newsprint with Cyrillic writing and were delicious, even without the garlic sauce. The vegan "beef" pelmeni were delicious. And the potato pirozchki, fried potato balls with sauteed mushrooms inside, were delicious, but then potatoes and mushrooms are two of my favorite things.
Read moreFor those with more basic tastes, they do have Beyond Burgers and brats, as well as a vegan "fish" sandwich, but when I go again, I'm going for the dishes you can't find easily.
I do wish they had nonalcoholic drink options, although I did enjoy my cider "mimosa." Also be warned that the Cuban coffee comes with dairy milk, and I didn't see a way to veganize it when I ordered on the Toast app (which is how you order your food). They should add that option. I remember the restaurant was not always vegan, although it was always vegetarian. It's also a bit expensive.
I also wasn't happy about sitting outside on a mildly rainy day, and I'm not a fan of elevated bar seats, but I went with it.
If you're in Adams Morgan and looking for something different, this is the place.
Pros: Delicious food, Friendly service
Cons: Expensive

Got both the Russian and Ukrainian dumplings and they were both amazing. The potato/mushroom were my favorite, delicious rich flavor and good texture.

1/3rd of the menu was out - Edit
I was so looking forward to tryout out this take on Eastern European cuisine! Sadly, 3 of their dishes (the stuffed cabbage, stuffed onion and strudel) were all out… we went for dinner at 7pm so this strikes me as poor planning considering the place opens at 6pm.
Read moreSo we ended up only having the Ukrainian and the Russian dumplings. They were tasty but nothing special, and the portion was also small and unsatisfactory. I think it would work well either as a side or as an appetiser (could even be smaller for that). I left feeling dissatisfied with my meal both taste-wise and quantity-wise.
Pros: Fully vegan food menu , Interesting menu items, Skate shop and surfer vibes
Cons: Lots of items unavailable , Dumplings feel incomplete, Small portions
Spacycloud
We are very sorry to disappoint you. Stuffed cabbage and Stuffed onions are our most popular dishes and get sold out immediately. We are still short staffed and recovering from Covid. It is taking some time but we are trying very hard to provide the best experience and we appreciate your patience and kindness. We hope next time you have a better experience. And we do have plenty of strudel

Just OK - Edit
I like the vibe of this place. It took a while to be seated even though it wasn't busy. I had a good beer (there is a neat selection of bottled beer here) and we had good company, so I didn't mind the long wait for our food to appear. What eventually arrived, though, was a Beyond brat in a pretzel bun with some horseradish on it. It was certainly tasty, but I suppose I was expecting a little more.

Bar food at its best - Edit
These are the savory eats you want, and with the addition of an outside seating area (thanks Covid) this makes for a really fun, buzzy evening. We were there in the early side so we could hear the music the DJ was spinning inside - on a walk by later after an evening stroll the inside was on full on club mode. Have been looking for a vegan curry wurst since I had one in Berlin 3 years ago and found a knock out version here. That bun tho! Fish and chips were amazing as were the vegan dumplings. Fun night out in Adana -Morgan.

Cool spot - Edit
I came here with my boyfriend over the winter. We sat outside on their back patio, which isn't that aesthetically pleasing, but was quaint. I ordered the vegan fish and chips, which was outstanding. I would never think that I'd use the term outstanding to describe a meal like fish and chips, but if you go there, you'll see what I mean! I met a woman, who I think is the owner. She was really nice and talked with us about our experience. They also had very reasonably priced bottles of wine. They have live artists frequently, and just have a cool vibe overall. Definitely will go back.
