Jummy - Edit
We went here with 1 vegan, 1 vegetarian and 2 omnivores and we all enjoyed their delicious Asian vegan food very much! I most certainly want to go back there to try some more things from the menu. There was a lot to choose from and everything we tried was just jummy! I would definitely recommend Soy to others.

Super! - Edit
Nice place, super frienly people and great (processed) food. Lots of flavourful meat/fish imitations with soy. I've been there several times and I love it!
Pros: Very tasteful food, Friendly staff

Simple kitchen - Edit
We have returned for the 'peking duck', but the rest is not so special.
Simple kitchen with carbs (rice, noodles etc) and mock meat.
We miss fresh vegetables.
Take away, not a cosy place to sit.

Great food - Edit
Got a standard take out menu for 2 persons from the restaurant.
Called in advance and the food was ready in 30 mins for pick up. It was a lot (we enjoyed it for 2 days) and it was very tasty. The chicken soup tasted very 'real' - and all the other dishes were great. Never been a big fan of the 'real' Chinese food, but this is definitely worth returning to.

Nice Imitation!! - Edit
We were looking for a good vegetarian restaurant which does not serve Indian food and Soy turned out to be a good option!! The imitation meat food with soya was quite tasty. Try the Satye and Soya with Chinese mushrooms! The staff was quite helpful and had an English menu too. But it is a small place, you need to book a table and they only accept cash. If you are keen on good ambiance, comfortable seating etc. then go for the take away. If you care more about the food and less of the rest, then you wont mind this place. For 30 EUR for 2 people it is quite a bargain considering the portion size and quality of food. Will recommend and will visit again too!!
Pros: Great Food and Great Pricing, Good quality & portion size
Cons: Interiors could be better, Do not accept bank & credit cards

Very good - Edit
A small vegetarian chinese restaurant (and take-away) with a very nice owner. Almost everything is vegan or can me made vegan. No alcohol and onions. Very good imitation meat. Soya ice.
Pros: many vegan options, nice owner, cheap!
Cons: very small, not so cozy

Awesome - Edit
The best Chinese in town according to my meat eating husband as well as me, even though it is almost entirely vegan and even most non-vegan options can have the egg removed. Nothing has dairy in it. The lovely staff remember you each time and give good tips as well as explain how everything is made.
Pros: Great Food, Cheap, Friendly, Personal Staff
Cons: Not Good For Private Conversations

Very Tasty - Edit
Very tasty. My girlfriend and I god different Vegan " chicken" dishes, and they were both very very good ! Very tasty and the "chicken" was very close to the real thing in taste and texture. The staff was nice and the service good. Only downside was the language barrier....only one person spoke a bit of English. However menu was also in english so we managed and had a very good experience. I will difinitely go there again ! :)

Delicious Chinese food. Very kind and helpful lady runs this tiny restaurant. Extended menu, so it's difficult to choose. But a good reason to come back soon.

Soy Good - authentic Chinese mock meat dishes - Edit
What an amazing place, definitely worth the 25 minute walk from town to find it. Extremely friendly and cosy. The best Chinese mock meat food I have ever had since De Oude Plek in Rotterdam back in 2005. I've waited so long to sample amazing authentic Chinese dishes like this with mock meat that could fool a meat eater into thinking they were actually eating the real thing. We had a set meal for 2 consisting of stir fried vegetables, chicken curry, pork Kung Pao, spring rolls and tomato soup as a starter. The 'pork' was shredded beautifully, drenched in a tasty spicy sauce. For 26 EUR this was truly exceptional value. A genuine pleasure to eat here.
Pros: great food, friendly, value
Cons: no alcohol , little bit out of town

Great vegan Chinese dishes! - Edit
SOY is an Asian vegetarian restaurant. It’s an half hour walk from central station, but totally worth it. We ordered the Chinese Spring Rolls and the Saté’s with Peanut Sauce. I loved the spring rolls, there were plenty of vegetables in them. The sate’s were pretty heavy but they had a great bite and the sauce tasted great. Our main courses were Brown Soy with Kung Pao Sauce and Baked Peking Duck. I think the sauce had the right amount of spicy and the fresh veggies tasted great. The duck wasn’t my favorite, although the structure and sauce were good, I missed some vegetables. We got nasi and bami, which I adored! The nasi was perfect with even some mock ham in it. I’ve never seen such a mock menu, and never tasted it. I thought it was a little bit strange in the beginning, but after I tasted these dishes, I’m quite fond of it. On top of that, the owner of SOY is a very sweet lady, after talking to us, she even got us a gift!
Pros: super friendly staff, good portions, great rice
Cons: not so cozy

Great place for food, awful place to dine - Edit
I used to live just around the corner from this place, so i went there every once in a while... why? because the food is amazing and the staff is über-friendly!
They have a typical chinese menu, but totally vegetarianized (everything can be ordered vegan, except for the foo-yong-hai, ofcourse)
The restaurant itself doesn't look too cosy at all, but if the weather's nice outside, i'd recommend to go for the take-away and eat it in the park, which isn't too far from there;)
My personal favorite was Babi-pangang with sate, which costs around 10 euros and the portion is huuge!
I don't think the food is healthy at all, but if you just need some asian fastfood, just go for this one!
you can also buy TVP there to prepare at home. (i even got a few for free when i told i was moving away from the city :)
Pros: excellent food, good value, friendly staff
Cons: awful interior

The best vegan/vegetarian food you can find - Edit
If you happen to stop by Utrecht this is the place to go to. I was so impressed with the quality and taste of their mock/faux meat substitutes. The food was delicious. Apparently most of the food is vegan and you can just ask without eggs if the meal has eggs in it.
I was not sure at first what to pick, but I ended up picking the most popular dish Babi Pangang which was the best vegan meal I have ever had. It was scary how good the texture and taste of this pork rib dish was. However even if the food was top notch there are plenty of things to criticize. First was communication. It was difficult to communicate and I had to rely on their young daughter to translate the meal for me. Another thing was them pushing and asking if you wanted rice or noodles with your meal. Which gave the false assumption that it came with the meal. They even charge for tap water! Who in the right mind would do so. They claimed they wrote the additional fees by the counter (which was in DUTCH!) so not exactly the most professional place. I got the feeling that they tried to deceive us a bit. So when you go there keep in mind when they ask if you want rice or noodles with the food it means you have to pay for it. Also don't bother ordering water as paying 1 euro for tap water is ridiculous. Despite these negatives I still think the place was comfortable to sit at and the food was top notch.
Pros: Food, Babi Pangang
Cons: They charge you for tap water, Language barrier

Fantastic! - Edit
After reading the reviews here we decided to give Soy a try.
I ordered the babi pangang and tjap tjoy combo, and we shared a Saté.
The food is so well done, I hadn't ever had meat substitutes that was so well prepared and so convincing. I have vowed to go there whenever I am close by from now on, I've considered picking up some tubs of babi pangang to go lol.
The staff is extremely friendly and really helpful.
All in all the best meal out I've had in over a year, so pleased and so stuffed at the end as well!
Definitely go if you're in Utrecht!

Wow! - Edit
Our family with two young kids went here for dinner. We read so many amazing reviews about Soy, and decided to go there. When we entered the staff welcomed us by shaking our hands. I have been in many restaurants and this was the first time that we got such a warm welcome.
The take away counter is in the same room where the tables are, but this does not disturb at all.
There is a lot to choose from the menu card. The quality of the food was very good. I especially liked the veggie 'shrimps'.
The kids loved it. Our oldest son was a bit sad and the owner immediately came to hug him and give him (and his little brother) some candy. That helped ;-)
If you enjoy amazing veggie food, super staff and casual style, then this is the place to go! We will definitely come back.
Tip. Make a reservation a few hours before you plan to go here.
Pros: Super friendly staff, Fantastic food, Very good price/quality

Amazing Chinese Food! - Edit
My husband and I decided to order takeaway from here last week. Despite my dulled taste buds from a nagging cold, we both thoroughly enjoyed the food! We ended up ordering their combination menu for 2, and were able to switch the soup for wonton soup for an extra Euro. Despite it being a little pricey, we'll definitely be going back!
Pros: amazing food, lot of choice
Cons: slightly pricey, cash only

Lovely! - Edit
Me and my friends were in Germany but took a day trip to Holland and we had checked for goos veggie restaurants in the area and decided to go with Soy because it sounded interesting and had got good ratings here. We sure weren't disappointed. The food was delishious and the staff super friendly and shook hands with us when we left. I can definitely recommend this. Best treatment I have ever got in a restaurant! And so much mouthwatering vegan food!
Pros: great food, very friendly staff
Cons: small

Babi Pangang! - Edit
Hell yeah! An all vegetarian (and mostly vegan) chinese restaurant! They have so many vegan options, it was a difficult task to choose.
My girlfriend and I sat down, stared at the menu for half an hour and just couldn't decide... seriously, I texted my friend who used to come to Soy a lot to ask for suggestions. "Go for the babi pangang and sateh" he responded in no time. So there was my choice...
And it was so so good! It's really the traditional "Chinese restaurant food in Holland", but all made vegetarian/ vegan. So besides the babi pangang, you find nasi with ham, chicken, fish and all that stuff.
The atmosphere is the only downside. Nothing special... but the ultimate friendly staff makes up for it. We even got a free drink because from out of town. Awesome.
Pros: all vegetarian/ mostly vegan, so many dishes!, friendly staff
Cons: not too cozy
