Very poor meals - Edit
Lots of vegan options, but the ones we had were miserable. My Soul bowl came with one small piece of broccoly and caramelized onions basically in traces, and those were the ingredients i really looked forward to, and there was just a bunch of rice, no sauce or taste.

The restaurant is well located and has a pleasant atmosphere. The girl who served us was really kind and clearly explained which dishes were vegan. I ordered a pasta and it was good. A nice place to stop by if you're in the area and looking for vegan-friendly option.

I ordered the veggie burger. When it arrived I asked the waitor to confirm it was definitely vegetarian as it looked like meat, they assured me it was vegetarian. It was only after I had eaten some that they they told me it was in fact meat.

Very lacking in plant based protein…you can have hummus or….you can have hummus. Oh, did I mention you could have hummus. Overpriced and bland…but you can eat as a vegan here …just be aware you will need to get a protein hit very soon thereafter.

Worst customer service.... ever! - Edit
As a family of 2 vegetarian with 1 vegan and 1 meat eater, we decided that this Soul Food place would be fitting. it seemed diligence was being paid with the server who took our order. All food that was brought to table was fresh and tasty, except for the 1 vegan meal which wasn't vegan..... We had reiterated to the server upon ordering that the pasta had to be the whole wheat as all their other pasta is NOT vegan.... and they got it wrong..... They tried to remedy by putting on whole wheat pasta, and as we all know, whole wheat pasta takes a lot longer to cook. We gave them a get out option by requesting a salad instead, just so we could all eat as a family at the same time and we were told that the pasta would be ready and in front of us within two minutes. 10 minutes later there was still no pasta and we requested chips to help ease hunger pangs. When everyone else at the table had finished, the pasta eventually arrived which was a full 20 minutes later and it was a standard style sharp tomato sauce, no veg, no herbs, just generally unimpressive, It was pointed out the appetite for the pasta was lost. We were quickly given our bill without having requested it, the pasta was removed from the bill and we were told that we should not have allowed them to cook up the pasta when we weren't going to eat it.... we pointed out that we did ask them to switch it to a salad and they refused. We spoke with a person who gave the impression that they were management within the eatery, and when it was again pointed out that the fault lay with them the attitude of this person was woefully unacceptable as she tried to push the blame onto us for them getting the order wrong, whether our initial server who took the order failed to deliver the whole wheat instruction to the kitchen or if it was incompetence on the part of the cook failing to implement the whole wheat instruction matters little, it was an error easily remedied (which was, strike food from bill, apologise, accept payment, thank you and goodbye). But that didn't happen instead we received the unnecessary shameful attitude in the appeasement of a situation that never needed to be said or to have come about. Definitely the worst customer service I've come across having worked in hospitality for twenty years and more.

Ok food. Misleading signs - Edit
The signage makes this place seem like it is a veg/vegan place that offers meat but that is not the case. It is a meat and fish place that has a few vegan options.

We counted up on the menu and out of about 50 dishes only 12 were vegan.
We had the Venus bowl and a vegan piadine. They were both just ok which is a shame as we had higher hopes for here.

Decent vegan burgers and outdoor seating! - Edit
Overall this was a nice place to have dinner in valletta that did accommodate for vegans and had enough options so we didn't feel like a second thought.
Read moreOrdered the vegan beyond burger and was a little let down by the blandness. We requested some extra vegan mayo but this did not seem to do much. Luckily I had a travel bottle of hot sauce and a couple of vegan mayo sachets that came in handy for our whole group as we all found the burger bun slightly dry too. All in all though, it was quite a nice meal, the salad was all fresh, but like other reviews have mentioned, the fries were hit and miss with some of them being super crunchy and some being just right!
I'd recommend taking some hot sauce or vegan mayo of your own to give the burger a little pizzaz.

We ordered Beyond burgers. The beyond meat was ok, but the rest of the plate was not very tasty, fries were hard as rocks and salad not fresh. The mayonnaise they bring is not vegan… Dinner was not worth the money.

Great vegan choices and happy hour cocktails! - Edit
Great tasty poke/Buddha bowls, we had the avocado one and the 'crunchy'. They came with 3 sauces/dips, a beetroot one, a vegan mayo and a tahini one. The bowls were a good size, tasty and had lots of variety in them, not just the usual rice, lettuce, carrot combo. The crunchy was topped with 3 mini burgers, again really tasty and gave that extra texture to the bowl.

The added bonus of us dining during 2 for 1 cocktails meant we got to sample their negroni's, which were spot on!
Would definitely recommend Soul Food.

Friendly staff, understanding of veganism. Call themselves a vegetarian restaurant but there is clearly animals on the menu. The pasta was good but very salty. I had the chocolate salami for dessert and it was very good, and there was so much of it!

Their vegan options are clearly labelled. All pasta dishes can be veganised by switching to whole wheat pasta (without egg). The staff was friendly and we were served quickly. Highly recommend
