Lots of veggies

Was looking forward to having a vegetable forward dish after a few days in Scotland and luckily Soul Food Kitchen has options that have just that!

Tucked away beneath a hotel near Kelvingsgrove park you’ll find Soul Food Kitchen. A place where they really keep an eye on your dietary wishes, the regular menu states all the things you need to know and they even have a gluten-free menu!

The food (that I tried) was really good! Nice and fresh and really flavourful! I went for one of their Soul Bowls which are things that people really do seem to enjoy there!

The staff was also very nice and made the experience all in all a very pleasant one!

Pros: Lots of veggies, Great staff

Tasty, quite healthy too

Finally managed to get a meal here- their opening hours are challenging for dinner. We had hummus & crackers, mushroom skewers, tofu bowls and dessert: crumble and creme brûlee. Plus a couple of non-alcoholic cocktails. Crackers were good, hummus bland (but nicely coloured), skewers were tasty and the tofu bowls very good- especially the lemongrass one. Crumble was ok, brûlee good (but my partner didn’t like the bay leaf oil used on it).
The ambience is a bit weird: fairly staid with boards on the walls with- I’m guessing- the names of famous “vegans”. Including Einstein and quite a few others seems a step too far.
Service was ok and the place really started to fill up at 5:30 when it was apparently closing at 6.

Pros: Food was good, Nice range of options , Non-alc cocktails yummy

Cons: Limited opening hours, Needs more identity as a dining venue, Music could be a bit less 70s MoR

Soul Food Kitchen

I think I ordered badly here. I got the burrito bowl which was nice, but something I could easily make at home. My partner had the cauli steak and enjoyed it. The chips were great. I love that it’s fully vegan here but I think it’s a bit expensive for what it is. As others have said, the service is on the slow side - and it wasn’t very busy when we were in. I think with minor improvements this place could be knockout.

Healthy bowls!

Surprisingly spacious, and light and airy for a basement. Bowls were fine, but not worth £15 for not particularly large portions of plain rice veg, tofu and veg that could easily be made at home. Crackers and hummus that another table got looked good - would try that if I went back! But don't think that'll be soon, as there's so many other more exciting foods in the area.

As good as you’d hope

Finally SFK - On a quiet Thursday night. Imo this is definitely all we’d expected and hoped it would be: Cool location Kelvingrove/Finnieston, subterranean premises in a classic Glasgow style, friendly welcome and service. The food was so good - we don’t eat out much as it’s usually mostly just worse than we eat at home, this was at least as good if not better. We had the Crudités wi Peanut Miso sauce and the Seeded Crispbreads with Houmous to begin - The pickles are tingly on the tongue and peanut sauce warm and nutty(!). Crispbreads are just superb - so thin and crisp with the toasted nutty edge. Houmous (x3) were good too. Good size portions too. For main course my wife had a Soul Bowl - Great size wi Lemongrass Tofu and many elements. I never eat burgers but the sound of the black bean type did it for me: it was excellent. Brioche bun, chips - everything was so good. One of the better burgers I’ve had out. Finished off with the Raw Cacao Mousse, which was so much tastier than I’d imagined. All in all it was a terrific meal out - Healthy and delicious. We will definitely return asap 👍😸🦄🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Great food

The food was very good. I had the sesame tofu soul bowl, and it was super tasty. The staff was very friendly, and I would have given them five stars hadn't the service been so slow.

Superb bowls

I had a delicious lemongrass tofu bowl. The flavours were great with plenty of marinated tofu. Vegetables, rice, and tofu were perfectly cooked.

Pros: Mains include decent amounts of protein , Vegan beers

Cons: Food takes a while to be prepared

Nice restaurant

Nice restaurant with a strong offering. I had the curry and although it seemed like the quantity wasn’t much at first, it’s more than enough. It was a bit spicy but really tasty.
I totally recommend this place!

Loved it sooo much ☆

We had a wonderful lunch there.
Took our time to choose our dishes, with recommendations from the waitress, and enjoy everything at our pace !

Definitely a place to stop by to have a quality lunch or dinner time, with tasty and quality food !

Usually I don't really like raw vegan desserts, but those were incredible, I wish I could have tried them all 🍰

Pros: Tasty and quality food, Peaceful place to enjoy a meal, Good recommandation and raw cakes

Cons: Service was a bit long but so worth it !

I would visit Glasgow just for the food here

What can I say - the food was incredible and I want to go back to Glasgow just to eat here again. After indulging in some junk food on my trip to Scotland it was great to find a restaurant like this that does healthy, vegan food. The flavours were incredible and there was a wonderful selection. Can't wait to visit again and I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Glasgow. It was quiet in the daytime for lunch but seems like a popular place where you will need to book later on.

Pros: Flavours of the food, Choices on the menu , Wonderful kombucha selection

Can’t wait to return

I had a brilliant lunch here in May, the service was fantastic and the food was so fresh and well made. I had a soul bowl and a side. My eyes wanted dessert but my stomach said no - these soul bowls are huge. Next visit I’ll be prepared to eat more!

Pros: The menu had something for everyone, Soul Bowls, Welcoming staff and lovely interior

Delicious healthy food

Delicious and healthy. I had the sesame tofu bowl. The tofu was so good and the marinated aubergine was flavourful. My mum had the roast diner. The nut roast and jus was full of flavour. Only point of improvement would be to add a bit more carrots and mashed potatoes.

Worth the 50 minute walk.

Wanting to support vegan independents, I did the trek. Was spoilt for choice - I could have devoured the whole menu 😅 for me portion sizes were perfect. I felt nourished but not stuffed.

Need a return visit

I wanted to give 5 stars, but when I was there I think they were short-staffed which affected my experience. The staff were lovely and apologetic, but I dropped a star as I was a little disappointed. However, keen to go back to hopefully have a better experience.

I was in a group, and my coleslaw was the last thing to arrive and took a while (which they did take off the bill) and pretty sure it was not as described- no turmeric and quite dry. The sourdough bread with the soup was toasted and very crunchy, and the weekend special cake they had advertised on social media on the Friday was not available on the Sunday lunchtime.

Lugar apacible

Lugar tranquilo con personal amable, los platos parecen bastante saludables. Saciante. Al ir al baño casi me meto en una habitación, también da a un albergue

Pros: Lugar acogedor, Comida rica, Personal amable

Cons: Comparte sitio con un albergue

Absolutely delicious

We visited to try the winter menu as a treat for our wedding anniversary. We both had a festive nut roast which was an excellent choice. Absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Portion size was ideal. We tried the chocolate torte which was a special. Rich and lovely but one shared would have been sufficient- it nearly defeated me! We will be back in January for another treat.

Pros: Fabulous food , Lovely staff , Reasonable pricing for the quality

Perfect Evening

Absolutely faultless evening for us. Dog-friendly so we didn't have to leave Diego at the flat and the service was amazing. So many tasty sounding options the only downside was not being able to try it all.

Pros: Dog-Friendly, Excellent staff, Lovely food
