Delicious and unique - Edit
I really like the food of Soul Cocina, and had it at a few events. It is always very good and different than the Latin food you'd typically get at a restaurant.

Delicious tamales and pupusas from a great woman-owned business. They are accommodating and caring. I can't recommend them enough to everyone, vegan or not.

SO GOOD - Edit
The food has so much flavor and is super filling. I would recommend to anyone to stop by at the Farmers Market in Carborro- you can order ahead of time to make sure you get what you want. You do have to it heat it up yourself but thankfully it’s already prepared and ready to be popped in the oven.

Yum - Edit
We’ve been getting take out from here every couple of weeks. You can order ahead and pick up at the farmers market. The tamales are soooo tasty, and we’ve had the turmeric quinoa, adobo beans and fried plantains which were also delicious. Can’t wait to try the yuca gnocchi

Plantains to die for - Edit
My husband and I tried Soul for the first time during festifall. We got the plantains and the yuca puffs. The plantains were EXCELLENT and we will be back to buy again. The yuca puffs were okay and a unique offering that we enjoyed trying. Will definitely be back to try more on the menu!

Love the open air feel of this place. The food is amazing. I had the arepas and the yucca puffs, both were great. The blackbean, zucchini and plantain mixture is fantastic.

Solid little vegan spot - Edit
Dropped by while in Chapel Hill for a wedding. It’s a cute little spot within a public market, with a reasonable selection of Latin-inspired dishes. I had the mango cheezecake, which was fabulous, some local blueberry kombucha, and the black bean arepas, which I’d give a solid B to B . They were fine, but I would have loved a little bit of a louder flavor profile. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area and looking for vegan eats!

Excellent food! - Edit
I have purchased products from their booth at the Durham farmers market several times. I am very impressed with the pasteles and yucca gnocchi they sell there! Everything there is gluten free too. I finally made it to their main location to try their full menu. I tried both arepas and they were both delicious! Staff is super friendly too! I highly recommend this place!

Pop up to physical location - Edit
Update...they now have a physical location in the Dogwood Market in Chapel Hill! The menu is limited there though to arepas, tamales, and tacos when I've been...none of the options I've loved in the past have been on the new location's menu. I'm sure these options are great if you like soft corn tacos, tamales, or arepas, but I'm not a fan of corn-based stuff I guess. Based on the food I've had from them in the past, they are still worth my original 5 star review below...
Read moreI've had the pleasure of eating Soul Cocina on three occasions at Triangle VegFest monthly markets and a pop up dinner. My favorites are their breakfast/ brunch options and gnocchi and ceviche. And the churro chocolate sauce is beyond amazing. Everything is vegan and wonderful with a South American flair...not spicey just full of flavor. Check Facebook to find where they will be next!
Pros: All vegan, Churro chocolate sauce
Cons: Dogwood Market has limited menu options

Excellent Food - Edit
I love eating Soul Cocina's food. It's healthy, whole foods plant-based deliciousness that fills you up (also gluten free if that's your thing). The tamales are really good. They have also done some creative, Latin-inspired dishes for the Triangle VegFest Monthly Market.

This is more pop up style. Search Facebook for their upcoming events, like monthly appearances at the Veg Fest market at Fullsteam in Durham. Sometimes they are at Farmers markets in the area so just look around for where they will be.

Wow. - Edit
I stumbled into the Raleigh Vegan Monthly Market and Soul Cochina was catering the event. My partner and I shared their cornbread french toast with sausage and fresh strawberries. We also tried an empanada. Everything was so good. I was shocked at how amazing the soft and moist french toast was. The empanada was also amazing. There was a red lentil stuffing in it. It is difficult to find places that cater to both vegan and gluten free diets. I was so happy to find that the whole menu is friendly!

The owner, Silvana, is a wonderful person and a fantastic chef. I have tried a few items on her menu and each one blew my tastebuds away. Her dishes are creative and thoughtful, and inspired by her Colombian heritage but are fully vegan and gluten free. If you're in Durham, you can find her tamales at Respite Cafe.
