We loved Soots, with fresh vegan pasta and sauces the best we’ve had since we visited Florence a few years ago. The small plates approach worked well for us. Two of the larger plates, 2 smaller and some focaccia was plenty. The cocktails were also a delight. Other HC reviews have commented on the pricing. For an experience of the quality, we were happy to pay.

We passed by and went for dinner with our dog. Very friendly staff especially with the dog, I always appreciate when people at restaurants greet the dog first. The menu is small but there are various interesting dishes and everything is quite nice especially if you like olive oil.

Also tried the stuff pepper which was nice but could have been cooked a bit more to become softer I guess? Overall was a very nice dinner so reccommended if you wanna try something different from vegan burgers or wraps.

Was looking forward to trying Soots but it was dissapointing. The place was pretty shabby, but I can easily overlook that if the food is great. Water was provided when we were seated, which we decided to stick with as elderflower cordial and soda was priced at £6 a glass. Like, what? It was suggested we had two or three plates each, the portion size increasing as you work down the menu. These weren't 'small plate' prices however, so we went for some focaccia with oil and balsamic (cheap nasty oil) at £6.50, braised leek and hummus (pretty good) at £10, and a couple of pasta dishes - truffle ravioli (side plate sized portion) at £16 (!) and artichoke tagliatelle (decent) at £14.50. Both pasta dishes needed salt. Still feeling hungry we had a 'carrot cheesecake' each (they had run out of chocolate tarte) at £8, which was unusual but not unpleasant. Bread, three small plates, two desserts, plus added service charge, £70. We were only there about half hour, the chef mopped up and left before we'd finished our desserts.

Result: a TOTAL ripoff.
If you are a Vegan, and you want some decent & decently priced Vegan food
DON'T go there!

They make a weird fuss here about it being a "small plates" restaurant and a non traditional menu but I think it's just an excuse for them to not have to time when dishes go out. The menu is clearly snack - starters - main - dessert. No hot drinks. What we had was nice though but the portion sizes of the pasta dishes are very variable so be careful if you're hungry - don't get the ravioli!

Wanted to love this place as a vegan, decor is cute and cosy. Service wasn’t great and the pasta dishes were the smallest I have ever had in a restaurant before. Pretty average tasting not worth the price and left still feeling hungry. Not the place to go for your evening meal, maybe nice for a bite to eat at lunch time

Soots offers small plates and the suggestion is to have 2 or 3, ranging (in the vast majority) from 8-15 pounds.
Read moreWhen a restaurant offers small plates at such high prices, each dish should be amazing and dazzle to warrant a return. Unfortunately this was not the case.
The focaccia was ok, but not great. Rather than being springy, oily and crusty like a traditional focaccia it was just a bit too much like regular white bread.
The plate of truffle ravioli was unlovingly presented on a flat enamelled metal plate without any decoration. The filling and the dish was more or less flavourless. The only interest came from the nice thick cream and thee truffle flavour from the oil drizzled on top. The creamy rigatoni were equally plonked onto a flat metal dish and though smoky and flavoursome lacked visual interest or decorations.
The best main dish was the sun dried tomato ravioli, which came in a deep dish and was colourful with green swirls. It looked and tasted as it should at these prices.
The deserts were probably the best Soots had to offer and I would thoroughly recommend the fudge and the rhubarb and custard, though the desserts alone really don’t warrant a return.
The price of alcoholic drinks was over the top with 125ml around 7.5-10.5 and a bottle costing the equivalent of 4 small glasses, which is poor value for money for customers.
We’ve been looking forward to visiting for about a year and were sadly very much disappointed. I’m aware this review may seem harsh.
When we visit ‘small plate’ restaurants we always get 1 dish each and if we love it get more food and drink. At Soots we didn’t and we still walked away paying over 30 each for some bread, a few spoonfuls of pasta, a tiny dessert and a small drink. I know times are hard for people working in hospitality, so this review may seem harsh to some degree. Times are also harsh for customers. If you are charging these prices and want customers to be content and return you have to deliver consistent quality and flavour with each dish. Soots doesn’t manage that.
I have to agree with the less favourable reviews on there and I think if Soots does not improve a lot and quickly, it won't remain in operation much longer.

Very cute little place, making Italian vegan in interesting ways. The servers were friendly and helpful, and the place is cosy. Some great dishes (the pomme anna! The mushroom rigatoni! The rhubarb!) but some which need more fine-tuning. Overall, a lovely evening.

We booked a table at Soots a few weeks in advance and finally got to try their dishes. We had two pasta dishes - ravioli which was great! and rigatoni which was a bit overcooked and bit bland. We also had two starters which were nice but I would probably try different ones next time😄All dishes were very rich and a bit heavy but I will be back to try rest of the menu ☺️

We had a lovely time at Soots. Food was delicious and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Highly recommend all of it really but the roasted artichoke and pumpkin risotto stood out in particular.

We had a lovely time at Spots. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and fresh. We ordered three pasta mains(the truffle ravioli, the rigatoni with lemon ricotta and the gemeli pea and mint), two smalls and one medium plate and that was great for the three of us. There is also a nice selection of desserts.
