Affordable and large portions of food

Had the vegan casado which was very nice and a good portion size. Also had the mango juice which was the best one I have had! The owner was also lovely and very accommodating, gave us a free shot at the end of our meal. Would definitely recommend and will be going back!

Tasty casada and friendly service

Our first experience with authentic Costa Rican cuisine was a great one at this soda! The waitress was very friendly and she understands the difference between vegetarian and vegan. Food was delicious, we especially liked the guacamole 🥑 and the plantain was tasty as wel!!

Schnell, preiswert und lecker

Haben das vegetarische "Casado" problemlos veganisieren lassen. Lecker!

Amazing food, great atmosphere!

Can ask to order the casado vegano (which slightly defers from the casado vegetariano). The flavours are amazing and there is a ton of variety on the plate. Drinks are great too, and all very affordable. They even give you a typical Costa Rican shot after dinner which is surprisingly good. Server even gave us a bachata/salsa dance lesson after our meal! Would highly recommend!!

Pros: Great local cuisine and variety, Healthy options, Affordable

Delicious local lunch

I got the Vegetarian Casado - a plate of rice, beans, pickled veggies, guacamole, squash and corn, tomato’s, plantain and a slaw. Omit the slaw if vegan. It was delicious local lunch, it was very filling, and a fair price.

Great Local Affordable Food

Lovely little local restaurant with very friendly staff. Not much on the menu in terms of vegan options however the Veggie Casado is really tasty and worth a visit just for that.

We had a Mango Juice and a Soursop Juice which were nice and refreshing.

This was also the first place we had tried Lizano Salsa hot sauce that has a lovely lime tang and prompted me to venture to the nearest Mini Market to purchase a bottle to keep on me over our 2 week trip around Costa Rica!

The owner of the restaurant was a lovely lady, really friendly and was interested in how we had heard and found her restaurant. We mentioned via Happy Cow, however, she had never heard of the App!

She also mentioned she'd like to have offered us some of her homemade rice pudding for dessert but understood that we couldn't have any due to the ingredients.

After our meal the lady gave us some complimentary cold, spicy Bloody Mary shots before we headed off!

Overall, even though there wasn't much to choose from on the menu, if visiting La Fortuna again we would definitely go back here for an affordable Casada and the friendly service.

Pros: Great Service & Friendly Staff, Affordable, Local Food, Veggie Casada worth the visit

Cons: Wish there were more vegan options

Great and cheap

The owner (?) was very welcoming and thanked us several times for coming. When we ordered the veggie casado she asked immediately if we wanted the vegan or vegetarian one. They're slightly different. The taste is good but nothing special. We also ordered some lemonade which came in a huge glass.
Would recommend!

Pros: Cheap, Fast service, Super friendly staff

Cons: Not many options

Highly reccomended

For 10$ you get a vegan plate and fresh juice. The plate includes a lot of veggies (also fresh and pickled) and some proteins. Unlike other places where you pay even more. Food was very fresh and taste-full. I don’t think you can get better overall vegan food in town. Staff is very nice too (no english).

Affordable local food

I had breakfast with my hotel here. Was left very impressed with the food. It was delicious and a very fair price ( approx 2300 colones for gallo pinto) and drinks were around 900 colones. They give out hot sauce and salsa on side. Food was very filling here.

Pros: Affordable, Delicious

Wasn’t expecting their food to be so good

I have been consistently impressed with Costa Rica’s vegan options. This place offers omnivore food, but their vegetarian casado dish is sooooo good! Beans, rice, veggies, guac, plantains, and some sort of potato side. Served up quick. Classic and authentic.

I don’t know if you need to specify vegano, but I did and it was immediately clear that they understood my request.

Pros: Inexpensive , Tasty food, Nice staff

Cons: Not a typical exterior for veg friendly restaurant
