Tasty surprise - Edit
Very pleased that the vegan menu consists of plenty of choice and not crammed full of “fake meats”. Instead there’s plenty of tempeh on offer which is always a plus for me. The atmosphere is typical of a modern pub and family friendly. The staff were all amiable and helpful.

We were very impressed by the vegan menu, we had vegan wings (cauliflower) and vegan dirty fries. And then the BBQ tower burger which was a crumbed mushroom. It was nice that everything wasn’t mock meats, especially as it’s so easy for places to just slap a Beyond Meat burger as their vegan option and be done. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

Went on recommendation and was super impressed from start to finish. The service was great from the staff, who gave us a separate vegan menu. The menu had so much choice, ranging from burgers to salads.
Read moreI had the 'bacun cheaseburger' which was so good but very messy to eat. My partner had the bollywood burrito which was amazing, we also shared some cauliflower wings which with the sauce were soooo good!

This was a decent find because there wasnt too much for vegans when we stopped off in Knaresborough. So! Bar had lots of vegan options. As others have suggested I would recommend skipping the starters. They were all variations on battered and deep fried as well as being enormous portions leaving no room for mains. For main I tried to go healthy but they had run out of pasta was so I had burrito with chips instead and it was excellent.

I have got takeaway from So!Bar’s Vegan menu on multiple occasions and they never disappoint.

Although their vegan menu is extensive, after eating there I realised they are a one trick pony. Almost everything on their menu is deep fried in a thick batter which tasted the same regardless of the dish. Their tater tots are just deep fried mash potato chunks with sauce. Korean mushroom balls? Just mushroom slices deep fried in a similar style to the tots. Thoroughly disappointing. Couldn’t even fit in a main course because I was so full with batter after the starters.

Let down by the service - Edit
This was our first outing since lockdown and the 50% off made it all the more enticing. The vegan menu is great, expansive and varied. Food was great but let down by the service: forgot side dishes, never offered a second round of drinks, really long wait times, no gloves and touching our side plates and cutlery without them. Had to walk up and out to ask for bill at the end. Not great but maybe they’re a bit rusty after lock down. Better luck next time.

Took nearly a year for our food! - Edit
Would like to start by saying the amount of vegan options are great, so much choice! However, we waited about 30 mins for some cauli wings, they were alright. Then another 30-40 mins for our mains that were luke warm. I'd understand if the place was rammed but it was a quiet Wednesday afternoon. Wouldn't visit again.

Upon reading the menu there appeared to be a lot of ‘repeated ingredients’ such as Banana Blossom but still amazing to see a great effort made by a mixed food restaurant. Our food tasted amazing

By not clever all I mean is that its difficult to go wrong if your going to dip stuff it batter and deep fry it... that said It was done beautifully. I had the Crispy cauliflower burrito and the Korean mushroom balls, can't wait to get back there and try more
