Food neither plentiful nor especially tasty - Edit
The menú del día (which, despite 'Snack' being in the name, seems to be the only food offered) costs 20 bolivianos. Normally in Bolivia that price would include at least three and often four courses, but here it means just soup and a main course. The blackboard at the front door advertises salad as included, but this doesn't mean a separate plate of salad as usual: in my case it was just some grated beetroot as part of the main course.
Read moreThe quinoa soup was fine, not at all exciting but adequate. The main course consisted of the beetroot, plain rice and a stuffed plantain, which was cold and in all honesty not very nice. There was also a cold drink but I didn't risk having it as it was likely made using tapwater, This place would be O.K. if you were desperate but I wouldn't recommend it.

Vegan friendly - Edit
They serve the most vegan friendly almuerzo in Sucre. Meals are basic, but I enjoyed them.

OK - Edit
I visited Dona Franca in May 2015 and had the set lunch deal for 20bs. It consisted of a a drink, bread and spicy salsa, vegetable soup, followed by a main course of lentil and beans with rice. There was no desert. The food here was served quickly and the service was friendly. I have to agree with some of the other reviewers and say that the food was quite bland and definitely could have used more flavour. We used to go to El Germen next door but this particular day they were not serving a vegan option so we went to Dona Franca. El Germen is definitely better and you get a desert. However, Prem, which has just opened up on Calle Grau #209 is better than both Dona Franca and El Germen.

Very basic food - Edit
[I went there on March 2015, and the set menu was at 20Bs. -not the best price in town- ant the hours were as follows: Monday-Saturday 11:30-14:00]
Read moreThinking it was going to be the cheapest vegetarian/vegan restaurant in town I went there late March 2015 (only to discover that the Germen has a much more appealing menu at only 24Bs. just next to this restaurant).
The menu includes a soup, a main course and a drink. The day I went, there was 'sopa de trigo' (wheat soup), 'lasaña con ensalada' (lasagna with salad) and 'refresco de linaza' (flaxseed drink). All was very basic. Not bad, but lacking flavour, and the portions were small (especially the lasagna with salad).
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Small portions

Basic fare - Edit
Decent food, but far from special. Its hard to complain though. Its priced great for what you get. The servings could be a bit larger, but its enough to fill most people. Also, they seem to not really like the gringo crowd. You are often completely ignored even if you speak spanish while the Bolivians are catered to.

Great Value, Mucho Food - Edit
I paid less than $2USD for a very filling, fresh lunch. The bowl of veggie soup that they start you off with is probably enough to fill you up and then the main dish comes along. Good use of squash as the main with veg sides. Nice local service in a clean, relaxed environment. There is a daily running menu (only one option) for approx 12 bolivianos. It is a bowl of soup, with the main dish. Good to support this local business and have a great meal. Can't go wrong for the price.

Cons: no english spoken, possibly not vegan
