Best vegan ribs ever - Edit
This place is worth a special trip to St. Louis. Without question, the best vegan ribs we've ever tried anywhere, in both flavor and texture. The vegan sides are also fantastic, especially the buttered corn, baked beans and fries. Two sauces, one smokey sweet, the other a spicier habanero, go perfectly with the ribs.
Read moreVery friendly counter staff, generous portions as well.
2023 update: this place is every bit as great as we remembered. Tried the mac and cheese side along with the cheesy bread accompanying the ribs.

Full vegan menu options! - Edit
This place has something for carnivores and vegans alike. Stumbled upon BBQ in the midwest that has a full vegan menu in addition to their standard! There were so many options and everything we ordered was delicious! Would 100% come back if in the area again.
Read moreUsed to only seeing a handful of vegetarian/vegan options, it was refreshing to have so many choices to make. On top of that, the food was really delicious, this feels like a hidden gem in the midwest BBQ world.
One caveat is the vegan food must be ordered from the register, so that could cause a longer wait if the restaurant is really busy, but didn't take long for us.
Pros: Options, Food was fantastic!

Delicious & surprising options - Edit
Barbecue is a BIG thing in Missouri. This place has the traditional choices, and surprisingly good variety for vegans. I had the rib sandwich, cashew mac & cheese, a fresh spinach salad with mushrooms, vegan bacon. housemade basil vinaigrette. It wasn’t very busy when I was there, and my wait time was minimal, even with waiting for them to prepare the vegan bacon fresh.

Great food, very long wait! - Edit
So amazing that a bbq place offers vegan food! However I was the only vegan in a group and I had to wait over 30 minutes for my food while everyone else had theirs immediately. We were the only people in the entire restaurant as well, it wasn’t obvious why such a long wait. The food was fairly good once it came though! Loved the apple sauce and pulled jackfruit.

Glad We Went - Edit
We stopped in to try the vegan ribs, but were told they were having distribution issues from their supplier and had none. So we ordered the Jackfruit sandwich, half order of BBQ Nachos, and chose French Fries and the Mac n Cheese as our sides. My boyfriend thought the fries were quite good, well seasoned and the perfect crispness to soft interior ratio. He enjoyed the bun and the jackfruit sammie as well. We both thought the Mac n Cheese was good but not great—it lacked an element of “tang” so the flavor was on the mild side. Luckily, there were lots of jalapeños on the nachos to spread around, and at least 2 vegan BBQ sauces on the side that we sampled. The nachos were HUGE—the half order was too much for one person so we had plenty to eat. My only complaint was the temperature of the jackfruit itself—both the sammie and the nachos cooled off almost immediately instead of being piping hot. Otherwise, the nachos were yummy. I’m grateful for all the options, especially at a meat centric place such as this, although their chalk drawings of “ Happy pigs” on the walls caused me to grimace a bit. Luckily, we went during a slow time so the other (meat eating) diners were spread out and not chomping on pig ribs right in our ears. That’s sometimes a tough thing to get past. Overall, we were glad we stopped on our trip through St Louis, and would come back, especially if the vegan ribs would be available.

Very underwhelming - Edit
Very underwhelming. Took forever for the vegan food to come out. My family had already finished eating their bbq. The vegan BLT had no vegan mayo or any condiments and was dry and hard to eat. The vegan Mac n cheese was just flat out not good. Would not recommend

Above and Beyond - Edit
Rather than just slapping a veggie burger on their menu and calling it good, this place went to great lengths to be sure they were offering what vegans want. They change out their menu based on feedback, and have been very responsive to the vegan community.
Read moreThe jackfruit nachos are a treat, completely different from anything I’ve ever had. The burger is probably the best vegan burger I’ve had, ever. The tofu burnt ends are tasty, too, though their texture has varied wildly each time I’ve ordered them. Recently, they’ve been better.

E for Effort - Edit
The Sriracha Brat was good but I hated that pita bread they served with it (back in 2019; don’t know if it’s changed). Hopefully they have a vegan bun now; they’re easy to find. Potato salad was ok. Jackfruit Nachos were boring and I didn’t like the cashew cheese at all. With more seasoning and a delicious BBQ sauce with chipotle sauce, they could be good. I hear they’ve added vegan ribs. I’d like to try those soon.

Wonderful vegan menu. They even have vegan dessert options. I really loved their garlic bread and nachos. The half tray of nachos are big enough even to split with someone else.

Meh - Edit
It was okay. I got the pulled jackfruit and it tasted alright, a bit cold. The mac n cheese was kind of cold too and wasn't flavorful, even my mother who doesnt season things much said it needed some S&P. My dad ordered a spicy corn and said it tasted like sweet corn, zero spice. I tried a bit of my moms burger and it was very good, though.

Vegan BBQ! - Edit
It’s not often you can find vegan real bbq, even harder to find a good one. Smokey Mo’s was excellent. They really put a lot of effort into making vegans comfortable. We had the notaburger with bacon and cheese and burnt tofu tips. Everything was very tasty. Potato salad was best ever. Don’t miss the hot bbq sauce!

Extensive Vegan BBQ Options - Edit
I am so happy that Smokee Mo's is around. It does not seems like the type of place that would cater to vegans (by all appearances a standard bbq joint), and it is not located in a part of St. Louis with a lot of vegan options. But Smokee Moe's is the best and one of the few places to get vegan bbq. They have a full and completely separate vegan menu with jackfruit/cashew cheese nachoes, notaburgers with veg bacon, baked beans, vegan potato salad, mac and cheeze, bbq jackfruit sandwhich, etc. My husband and I split a ton of food, nachos, bacon burger, mac and cheeze, baked beans, potato salad, and enjoyed everything. I especially like the notaburger with bacon and cheese and the jackfruit nachos. Everything (including sauces) are clearly labeled and vegans can order directly at the register rather than going through the meat line. I really hope this place does enough business with their vegan menu to keep it up because it is a great option in West County.

Absolutely wonderful vegan meal. Highly recommend the jackfruit nachos. A half order was more than enough for 2 people. The vegan burgers, vegan basic and vegan cheese all appreciated. They treat vegan like first class, answered all my questions, and even had a vegan sugar free bbq sauce. 6 vegan sides and even vegan dessert. Will definitely be back.
