Pleasant surprise

Had a long layover at JFK and ventured out to discover this small gem. Plenty of vegan and non-veg options. I got the Vegan French Toast Deluxe and a smoothie. Amazing!!

Excellent vegan brunch!

My young children are big fans of vegan brunch. We have tried 3 Brothers on Long Island and Gaia and Loki in Jersey City. Smile of the Beyond is a new favorite. The prices are reasonable and the portions are big. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Even more important, the food is excellent! Highly recommend!

Gem in Queens

The soy bacon is wonderful. The vegetarian hash was yummy but a bit spicy. The staff were all nice and attentive.

Pros: Two page vegan menu, Everything is vegetarian, some is vegan, Reasonable prices

So good we went back the next day!

Like the title says, this place is excellent with both vegan and vegetarian menus. Many breakfast and lunch choices to choose from and friendly serene service. Do yourself a favor and try this place.

Pros: Large vegan menu, Excellent food, Great service

Cons: Small space with only about eight tables

Serene Atmosphere. Classic, Scrumptious Food.

I'm personally a fan of Smile of The Beyond and its sister restaurant, The Oneness Fountain Heart. Both restaurants are run by students of the spiritual leader Sri Chimnoy, whose art and ideas you'll most definitely encounter while dining indoors at Smile of the Beyond.

The pumpkin pancakes were a memorable dish to enjoy: they were fluffy in texture and had just the right amount of sweetness. The Huevos Rancheros was a diverse delight with its black beans, vegan egg patty, and guacamole sauce that combined elegantly for a savory dish that is filling without weighing you down.

Amazing and innovative

Amazing service, their food 👌 is soo delicious i just can't stop coming. Never gets boring. Pumpkin pancakes, Chipotle bacon wrap vegan, smoothies, and soo much more..

Yes, a vegan menu, but not worth your time

Let me tell you a bit about my visit here:
- Whoever the skinny whitr guy was at the front needs better hospitality training. I was waiting a good 2 mins in front of him as he determined that sorting the day's mail was more important than greeting me and offering a menu (had to ask for one)
- Despite informing the visitor AFTER me about when his take out was ready, I waited 10 mins looking at what I suspected was my meal (ready before the visitor before me) before I had to ask the same guy whether it was mine. Meal was mad cool by the time I got to try it.
- The takeout container effectively started melting 10 mins into my return trip.
- I ordered a meal that came with toast. I was asked whether I wanted whole wheat toast. I got to my destination only to open my takeout and find that there was no toast.
- The tofu scramble is as unseasoned as it looks. I'm floored.
- Pancake was aight.
Recommending a hard avoid on this spot. I was excited for some vegan diner food. This was a whole other edible, but disappointing experience.

Cons: Not very hospitable, poorly seasoned.

Great place, super friendly staff, tasty vegetarian and vegan options. Highly recommended!

Vegetarian Diner

I live in the area and frequent this restaurant often. I love their Eggs Benedict which comes with home fries. I also love their Steakburger. Everything is vegetarian and there's a variety of items on the menu to choose from. The staff is friendly and food is generous. I usually eat and then make my way to the health food store which is just a few stores away. The F train is just two blocks away and there's paid parking on the block. Fully recommend.

'Steak' Sandwich

Wow! I was a little unsure about eating a 'steak' after being vegetarian for so long, but it was fantastic. This was really tasty, with fried onion, sauce, mmmm!!!

I spent ages dithering about what I was going to have as there was so much that sounded yummy, I grew up as a meat eater, and having so many choices of thing s that were a blast from the past was great. I am really looking forward to returning.

Staff were really beautiful people, and patient with my indecision. I tasted my husband's juice and that was great too. My only regret is the sandwich was so filling - I am going straight to dessert next time, they look fabulous.
