always a winner - Edit
smiles is a great little family run cafe in southsea it provides honest non fussy cafe food. Staff are very knowledgeable about vegan and vegetarian requirements despite not being specifically targeting that audience. Always at least one vegan cake option to. The do a killer vegan fry up.

Surprising Find! - Edit
Was not expecting to find a full English vegan big breakfast in Portsmouth. Just great. While it won't suit a lot of vegans I actually quite like that a standard cafe caters for all. Big vegan breakfast included veg sausages, hashbrowns, baked beans and more. Very impressed.
Pros: Vegan Fry Up, Friendly Staff, Clearly Labelled Veg Items
Cons: Not a 'quaint' style of cafe

An Oasis in a vegan desert - Edit
The Smile Cafe is, as the title says an oasis in the vegan desert that is Portsmouth and it's surrounding area.
This will be the only place you will find that will sell vegan food which include an all day vegan full English.
I have been going to this place for a while and they offer a lot of vegan options, even the vegetarian opens can be made vegan on request (most of the time).
Pros: Only vegan friendly place in Portsmouth, Decent selection of vegan food, Friendly staff
Cons: Can be pricey depending on order, Doesn't open in the evening. 4pm Close.

Vegan options in friendly Southsea cafe. - Edit
Southsea, indeed Portsmouth as a whole, is rather a wilderness for vegans so we were pleased to find Smile when we visited the area on Saturday 5th April 2014. It serves standard cafe food - all day breakfasts, sandwiches, salads, roasts, omelettes, chips - with vegetarian and vegan options clearly labelled. Staff are welcoming and knowledgeable and the food is freshly prepared and tasty. They even have vegan cakes!
Pros: A choice of vegan options., Friendly staff, Good food
Cons: Not a vegan cafe, No telephone number.
