No longer offering anything vegan - Edit
No longer offers vegan options, do not go here if you are strictly vegan. Very upsetting to trek here and be turned away.

Not my favorite kind of food - Edit
I went there wanting to try the minced soy meat and was surprised with a totally different meal. All I could have was a pickle, cucumber and eggplant salad with rice alongside a miso soup which was edible but note quite to my linking.
Read moreThey had a few vegan desserts that were nice but not great (an oat and chocolate bar and a lemon sablé). The staff was the usual kind of nice and the price was a bit expensive for Japan.
Pros: Vegan options in a small town, Location , Staff
Cons: Only one option

Yum! - Edit
I had the pleasure of stopping at Slow Jam while in Yamagata! The server was super nice and friendly! Since I was part of a large group, we had to sit outside, but it was a beautiful day, and the place had nice cozy vibes. There was only one vegan menu item, unfortunately, but it was super delicious and filling!

Great vegan sweets, one meal on main menu can be made vegan - Edit
I had the vegan brownie and vegan lemon cookies which were both really delicious and clearly labelled as vegan. For the main meal, I had the Soy Meat Khao Yam (SLOWJAMカオヤム 大豆ミートver.) without the main sauce or the prawn oil (you can see in the photo the three seasonings on the side that were vegetarian). It was still really flavourful, veggie-abundant and delicious without the seafood-based sauces. It also came with a nice soup. Just make sure to tell the staff you are vegan to get the meal altered.

Cosy and tasty - Edit
Only the one main that can be made vegan, but it was still tasty and fresh. I got some vegan sweets for the road (cookie, brownie and shortbread) but haven't tried them yet. The staff were lovely, and one gave me an umbrella as it was raining heavily, insisting I just take it even though I told her I couldn't return it. I really appreciated that!
