Confusion reigned during this unexpectedly turbulent visit to what was a charming little outlet situated in a prime location in Town Square. The cause of this quandary? Undeniably one of the worst açai bowls I’ve ever had, followed by easily one of the most memorable sweet potatoes I’ve had the pleasure of consuming.
Let’s start with the former. It was served in what I can only assume was, judging by the copious amounts of wobbling, the hollowed-out lower half of a weeble. Said receptacle was also pitifully small but, as would transpire, this was a fact for which I would be grateful. It had zero redeeming features. The açai itself was icy, the almonds were chalky, the chocolate was bland, and even the banana was odd. The crowning glory of this apparition though was the fact that it had lettuce on. Yes, you read that correctly, lettuce.
Understandably, my hopes were not high for the second of my dishes, the sweet potato. Though beautifully presented, I half expected to slice into it to find it hard and unforgiving; I needed have been so pessimistic. In fact, it cut like butter, had a silky, luxurious mouthfeel, and was an absolute triumph.
Despite the fiasco that was the açai bowl, I would, oddly enough, look to return here. There was sufficient evidence in the other items, including the beverages, to suggest that they do in fact know would they are doing. This, coupled with the excellent service and the tranquil atmosphere, are sufficient for me to give them another chance.
