Cool place but not consistent

Specifically came here for avocado toast with tofu.
Day 1. No avocado. Very disappointing. Went elsewhere.
Day 2. They have avocados! The avocado toast with scrambled tofu was delicious. Highly recommend.
Day 3. Came back for the avo toast but again no avocados. So disappointing. Curt staff member with a tough luck attitude. No explanation or breakfast alternative offered. I had to ask if they would do me scrambled tofu on toast instead which he agreed to. Customer service needs to improve. They charge 10% on top of prices for service which amount to bringing your food and disappearing as you pay when you order like any cafe.

Plenty of sweet treat offerings (which all looked great) but sadly, they all contained dairy.

Place had a cool laid back vibe. Bright and airy.

It was almost an inevitability that I would end up here. Despite earnestly trying to go elsewhere, this namesake restaurant, with a descriptor apt for my svelte figure (in spite the buffets) was my destiny.
In my mind’s eye, for some reason, the name of this place conjured up images of a very rustic, home-spun diner type establishment, but what I found couldn’t have been more different. Chic, modern, and with an almost hipster coffee shop vibe, it was far sleeker than I had ever envisioned. The menu too reflected this aura, peppered as it was with a decent selection of intriguing plant-based options. Keen to try as much as possible, I dutifully ordered all that I could and waited with bated breath to see if it would be as good as now dared to hope it would be. Oh, and how it was.
Kicking things off was the stunning mezze plate, a platter that abounded with freshness in every element. Bright, zingy tabbouleh, crisp, moist falafel and smooth, luxurious hummus all played perfectly with the outrageously impressive bread.
From this initial peak, the standard never really wavered; the subsequent dishes, the avocado toast with tofu scramble and the harrisa shakshuka were both exemplary. The former was perhaps the finest mimicry of this particular egg preparation that I’ve had, while the latter not only provided a deep, flavourful ragu that smothered the surprisingly light, yet meaty vegan balls, but also - and perhaps most importantly - it gave the opportunity to luxuriate in more of the exquisite flatbread.
And still, that’s not all; it would be remiss of me not to mention the fries. Though only a side dish, they were the kind of chips that you always dream of receiving - homemade and fried to perfection, they were even the ideal temperature when they hit the table. Needless to say, they didn’t last very long and I put very serious consideration into ordering a second serving.
An undoubted success of a meal, it’s one I would happily return to repeat any time.

Coffee spot

Great coffee with coconut milk. Shakshuka is also tops! The cafe also has soya for an extra 350. Be sure to check if the items on the menu are vegan. We were informed that the menu has been misprinted and some of the items aren’t actually vegan (pancakes).

Pros: Good coffee, Friendly staff, Free filtered water

Great food, very good service

This is a slick operation in Sri Lanka, it’s very clean, has drinkable filtered water available, good coffee, food and service. I was told it was owned by a fellow New Zealander! Highly recommend the local dishes such as Hoppers!! I’m in Sri Lanka to try their food, not the western pancake offering!!!
