Disappointed - Edit
Accepting this is during pandemic so limited menu and no eat in options. Not sure if establishment has changed hands as signage different now and no mention of vegan offerings anywhere. We ordered a large portion of chips shortly after they had opened at 12noon. What we received were fat soaked chips that had the appearance of refrying last nights left over chips. they tasted of oil so ended up in the bin. Wouldn’t recommend.
Read morePros: No queue, unlike the nearby take away.
Cons: Poor quality oily old food, No visible vegan options on menu

Do not cater for vegans - Edit
Sticker on window saying they are vegan friendly but just went in and was told they do not have any vegan options, and did not even know if sides like mushy peas were vegan.

Great little Chippy! - Edit
We travelled from Manchester to Cornwall for a short break after Rona (NHS Key Workers). We are vegetarian.
Read moreWe found this little gem by chance, as The Mermaid had fried fish and sausage in their oil.
We were the last customers, the owner Ian was extremely helpful, gave us perfectly cooked chips, which were still hot after a 5min walk to the benches. 3x chips, peas, curry, gravy and a can £8.
He also checked that all his ingredients were suitable for vegetarians too, which they were.
Brilliant service, brilliant food- what more could you ask for?
You really can't complain about that!! But if you do complain, it's probably because you expected too much from very busy people and weren't very nice yourself.
You'd be silly not to go there. 👍🏾
Pros: Aware of ingredients, Looking for new menu items, such as Banana Blossom
Cons: Can get busy, Not on main street, Closes at 8pm

Couldn’t eat as no GF options - Edit
I was really hopeful that I would be able to eat here as a gluten intolerant vegan. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case as I was informed there is no gluten free fryer.
Read moreI’m sure this place would be great if you just want something vegan though.

Fantastic food. - Edit
Offers vegan, vegetarian and meat. Our food was cooked in a separate fryer. The staff were really helpful and accommodating, they even recommended some other vegan-friendly places in the area! I had the vegan sausage, vegan nuggets and chips, all were great!
