Small, friendly place with great food.

There were at least 6 different main dishes and various puddings and drinks to satisfy anyone. The decor was simple and clean and the waiter was just so polite and helpful. The food itself was wonderful and offered good sized portions.

Pros: Fully vegan , Friendly staff, Great prices

Cons: Wouldn't know it was there if it wasn't for board.

Awesome

We visited for a Sunday lunch and I had their Mac ‘n Cheese which was awesome! Also had a great selection of deserts which we took away and were good too! Overall it was a really really good food experience and it’s nice to have a vegan restaurant in Matlock, but maybe some music or something so we didn’t have to listen to everyone else’s conversation (especially once there were only 2 tables seated) and to create some atmosphere. Some Putumayo music (Latin American) would have made this experience 5* for us. But we’ll worth a visit!!!

Doesn’t allow dogs

We called in on our visit to Matlock but sadly our two companion dogs weren’t allowed, not even outside!

Great little cafe

Stopped off at Matlock on our way home after having a weekend in The Peaks. Excited to find this place open on a Sunday.
All the staff were very polite and friendly. Great service and good food freshly made.
We ordered the Meatball Sub and a Loaded Burrito. Both really tasty. They came with a little pot of sweetcorn that was cooked in a little bit of special sauce and were amazing!
We also ordered some sausage, stuffing and pickle rolls to take away which we had later that evening. They were yummy!
Will definitely come back next time we’re in the area

Pros: 100% Vegan, Great service , Friendly owner and staff

Hidden gem!

Lovely little place set back from the main high street. Lovely food and was particularly impressed that they had a kids’ menu. Finding a fully vegan kids’ menu is like striking gold!

Pros: Vegan kids menu, Lots of options

Cons: No desserts

Sin Carne Cantina

Really nice small cafe tucked away down a side street. I was going to Matlock and Matlock Bath anyway so made sure I went in to check it out. I immediately got a very friendly greeting from the staff member behind the counter and she was really nice and chatty, making me feel at ease right away.
They even had hand sanitiser on the tables which was a really nice touch.
I got the Mac and Cheese which came with peas and sausage bits. The portion was very generous, the cheese sauce was really nice and smoky and the pasta was large tubes of pasta rather than small macaroni tubes. The thing that let it down though was there wasn't much sausage in there and for £7 I expected a bit more. I haven't tried anything else on the menu so I can't speak for that, but if thats the theme throughout then it feels a tad overpriced. If it keeps a small vegan business open though I don't mind paying it. I did feel the takeaway food and drinks were fairly priced though.
The decor was nice too, they even had some books on veganism which could be an interesting read to someone considering making the switch or just to pass the time while waiting for your food.
Overall I'd say its worth checking out, and adds some variety and a vegan option to the long street of chip shops

Tasty comfort food

I ordered the sausage mac and cheese and it was absolutely delicious. (Although I would have liked more sausage)
Husband ordered the loaded borito and he said it was also delicious.
The little one had nachos, which were very yummy.
We ordered a lemon and lime cake for afters which was a little dry but had whipped cream on the side which helped.

The staff were lovely and friendly and it's a lovely place

And its great value for money!

Pros: Delicious food, Good value, Friendly staff

Amazing vegan Mexican food at good prices

We found this wonderful small 100% vegan restaurant at the fish pond end of Matlock Bath. Super friendly staff and good food options made this lunch visit a great success. We ordered the burrito, a quesadilla, mac and cheese, and a toasted sandwich. All were wonderful and value for money. We'll definitely eat here again the next time we're in town.

Pros: 100% vegan, Value for money, Super friendly staff

Lovely place and people!

We went to Matlock Bath specifically to visit the cafe and were not disappointed. We felt so welcome with our newly walking and slightly destructive one year old and had a lovely time talking to the staff. The food was delicious - our toddler had a mac and cheese from the kids menu and has never enjoyed anything so much! Husband and I had the burrito and meatball sub. Service was very fast and efficient and the huge piece of cake (with squirty cream) just topped it off. We can't wait to visit again!

Pros: High chair with a tray! , Lots of options , Customer toilet (ask!)

Great food, love the variety available, friendly staff

Fairly priced food, they picked up on the fact me and my husband wanted to share two dishes before we even asked, intuitive friendly staff and amazing food, not spicy which is a massive win for me too

Nice Place

Really enjoyed our impromptu stop off! The menu is simple but so well executed.... Flavoursome burritos, salsa with a twist and the coconut corn on the cob is divine. Had to try the chocolate torte and again it was delicious! Lovely team too. Will be back 💚🌱

Vegan cafe in Matlock - Yay!

Vegan, dog friendly, lovely people serving and cooking vegan food. What more could we ask for on a rainy February day in Derbyshire? I had the tofu sandwich with pineapple and mango salsa with corn on the cob. To be honest, it wasn't really a salsa but it was tasty nevertheless. The bread was a bit disappointing. Partner had the mac 'n cheese, which he really enjoyed. I'd definitely go for that next time. All in all, a decent lunch and unexpectedly fully vegan. We also bought some red onion chutney made by a charming young man working there. And... I took home a lovely cupcake.

Pros: Fully vegan, Charming staff

Cons: Bread choices could be better

Nacho Heaven

We visit yesterday and he’d both kinds of nachos. The cheese sauce in the meatball and cheese nachos was to die for! We spent the journey home pondering how it had been made due to it being a closely guarded secret known only to the owner.

Fab little find in a sea of fish and chip shops. Well worth a visit 💚

Fantastic little place

Absolutely wonderful place, staff are very friendly, food was stunning. Fully vegan so no need to worry about ordering anything, I had the Mac and cheese which I would highly recommend. Felt very safe there, very cosy and nice. Will definitely return ☺️

Update after another visit: still fantastic! Let us being our dogs inside (even gave them some fuss and treats!) And catered for my girlfriend who had a gastric sleeve and can only eat tiny amounts ☺️

Mix Match

Nice food but couldn't tell if it was a Mexican or American restaurant as the menu is a bit mix match.

Friendly staff but no atmosphere in the restaurant. Luckily we had a takeaway.

Great potential there

Great friendly staff but the food was not up to snuff! It all sounded great on the menu and had a great Mexican theme. I ordered the Cubanos sandwich which comprised of 2 pieces of tofurky and 2 slices of American style cheese, in a toasted roll. Saw other stuff that was brought out and it looked like we were lucky with our order... Nachos looked cheap and dry, quesadilla looked a bit soggy.
Was cheap lunch out though and a great option compared to the rest of the eating options in Matlock bath.

Pros: All vegan, Cheap, Lovely staff

Cons: Poor quality food, Bad decor, Not really Mexican food
