Expensive but worth it - Edit

Extensive menu and they have different types of homemade milks. It is a bit expensive but food is delicious and made with care. They also sell vegan and sustainable items. I will be back :)

really small portions - Edit

I ordered cinnamon toast it was tiny like a quarter piece of bread and the topping was so dry just a pile of cinnamon sugar on dry toast. Really didn't like it at all. My husband ordered the nachos, the portion was small and basic toppings but they tasted alright.

Pros: large menu

Cons: tiny portions , overpriced for what you get served

The food was really great but the prices are high. Also the wait was looooong and we were the only customers in there.

Check several reviews first - Edit

I am really curious what was ordered by those who highly rate Simple Bliss Vegan Cafe. I really should have sorted through other reviews before landing here.

I was not surprised that the prices were high being in Tahoe. But for a high price I expect quality in both taste and presentation.

I have been a vegetarian for 50 years and vegan the most recent decade of that, so I know my way around vegan food. The experience here was a total let down.

The first step upon paying in advance for the order was to answer the question on the screen as to the tip amount. I have now learned that in the future to pay for the meal and leave a cash tip based on actual service. Water under the bridge as they say.

The over $95 tab included 1x oatmeal, 3x pancakes, 2x smoothies, and 3x carrot cake muffins. I was informed after paying that the “carrot cake muffins” were mislabeled. I should have accepted the refund offered. The substitute was tasted, but not finished.

Next arrived the smoothies. They were OK, but the flavor wasn’t there. They were good for washing down the other items attempted.

I love oatmeal and often fix plain oatmeal for myself. I could not down but half of the serving and had to wash what I ate down with the smoothie. I hate to see pricy food thrown out, and will usually clear my plate at any price, but this was just too bad.

Speaking of plates, I would think for the price I would at least have something substantial to eat with. The plastic fork folded under the pressure to cut through the pancakes that were served on paper plates.

The quality of presentation was totally lacking. The muffins looked as if a child had made them in play dough class and the pancakes looked similar to the ones I made as a child. I would post photos of what was left on the table, but as I look at them they are disgusting compounded by being partially eaten.

I understand this is perhaps the only vegan cafe in South Lake Tahoe. If true, someone who actually knows how to blend flavors of natural ingredients could supplant this cafe in a couple months. Providing healthy vegan food takes more than just dumping a variety of heathy items into the mix and calling it a healthy dish worthy of praise.

Pros: Convenient location, Clean appearance, Parking

Cons: High price, Lack of presentation quality, Poor flavor and selection of ingredients to blend

great food, great variety, gluten-free, soy-free options, expensive - Edit

So glad we found this cozy little vegan eatery in Lake Tahoe!

Service was good. You order at the counter.

Food and drink are served on compostable dishes... made from plants.

Loved it. Cashew cheese is delicious.

I had avocado sandwich with added red onion, husband had classic (lentil) burger with the cashew cheese and avocado.

Uodating my review on subsequent trip to SLT visiting family. Really love this place.

We had the nachos. Sinfully delicious!

Back for breakfast now. This is about my 5th time here. Loving it each time.

Pros: food is great; lots of variety, soy-free, gluten-free options ; raw options

Cons: expensive , not “fast”. but if you want real food, you will w

Don’t waste your time! - Edit

Yes they are fully vegan, and I have given them my buissness on multiple occasions, but it’s not worth it. The prices are outrageous and the wait is ridiculous. Don’t go! We waited an hour and fifteen minutes for 1 latte, 1 smoothie, a bagel, and a sandwich. Nothing we wanted was available, and it took forever! We were the only customers! Plus, each things comes out one at a time, instead of all together.

Pros: The food tastes good

Cons: Be prepared to wait 1 hour or more , Lunch for two is over $40 , Very very small!

Expensive and mediocre - Edit

I hate to give a lower review to the only fully vegan restaurant in town. And I know it's all organic and locally owned but the prices were ridiculous. $7.50 for a vanilla latte and $14 for 4 tiny pancakes? $4 for one slice of toast? The atmosphere was cute but the restaurant was tiny and crammed. The food was pretty bland and nothing special. I won't be returning.

Pros: all vegan , organic ingredients

Cons: mediocre food, way overpriced , way too small

Good Food-Pricy- - Edit

The blissed our nachos and Chickpea omelette were both very tasty. Including 2 juices our tab was $55. Food was customized and made to order and of course all vegan. I honestly didn’t mind paying but I won’t go too often because of the price. Staff was non enthusiastic and not very helpful with questions or suggestions.

Pros: lots of options

Cons: price, mediocre customer service

A nice reprieve - Edit

Being away from home, finding vegan in restaurants and stores is difficult to say the least. Thanks Happy Cow for showing me the way here. Yumm carrot cake muffin, delish zen juice and Bliss Bagel sandwich. Sign inside says No Wifi. Pricey but a good stop nonetheless.

Pros: Food , Juice, Atmosphere

Cons: Pricey but preparing vegan food is not cheap

Disappointing. Rude Service. - Edit

Very disappointing. Rude service.

Every time my partner and I came through Tahoe, we would frequent this spot to help support a local vegan restaurant. We will not be returning.

Decided to order a different menu item, the pancakes. Food was extremely bland with soggy texture, no flavor. Gently spoke to the staff regarding our feelings about the pancakes and was ridiculed for bringing our concerns to them. Extremely negative owner came by to speak to us within minutes. Her energy was heated with a bad attitude. Took things very personal and used guilt tactics and shaming towards us. Claiming no one has ever complained about her food in all of the years she has been in business. Then telling us that she took time out of her busy day off, just to come "deal with us" when that was never even expected. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable for a restaurant. We were made to feel shamed for simply addressing a legitimate customer inquiry.

For a Vegan cafe that portrays bliss and good vibrations, this energy is not aligned.
Extremely disappointed in how we were treated as return loyal customers and the negative energy that was directed towards us. Definitely not loving, caring, compassionate or anything that has to do with Vegan or conscious living.

Food quality has drastically declined over the years.
Minuscule portions.
Over priced.
Bad vibes.
Negative energy.

Karma will indeed catch up with Simple Bliss if they continue to treat others this way and operate in this manner.

Very disappointed.

Disappointed - Edit

I was in Tahoe for the weekend and was super excited to see a restaurant with so many options for vegans, but I don't think I'll go again next time I'm in town to visit. Both times I went the service was really subpar. They weren't friendly at all and when I double checked with a server that everything on the menu was vegan she rolled her eyes and responded in a very rude tone "Yes. We are called the vegan cafe." The food quality was not appetizing. We went once for dinner and once for breakfast. The burger was very plain and the side salad tasted dirty like the greens weren't washed. The next morning we decided to try it again and I decided to go with the pancakes which were incredibly small, child size small, and were super mushy on the inside. Also very overpriced. I hope they stay in business for the sake of an all vegan restaurant being around, but they need to step up their customer service and food quality.

Pros: Many Vegan Options

Cons: Customer Service, Food Quality

Lots of potential - Edit

I was in town for a couple of nights and really excited to see that there was a fully vegan cafe in South Lake Tahoe, just minutes from where we were staying! Unfortunately, both my friend and I left disappointed. We were not greeted upon arrival, and when I did make my way to the counter to order the staff were not friendly and did not even ask "how are you today?". I ordered the nachos and choc-chip pancakes and my friend ordered the regular pancakes. All of the food was served on paper plates, with plastic cutlery and the serving sizes were very small. The food was relatively good, but not worth the money. The menu sounds amazing here, and I think the cafe has a lot of potential, but there are a few things that need to be worked on.

Pros: Lots of options on the menu, Fully vegan cafe in Tahoe

Cons: Lack of customer service, Serving sizes, Disposable serving ware

Cute little vegan spot - Edit

Cute little vegan spot with lots of raw options. Had the Maca Mocha which was tasty and reminded me of a hot chocolate with some extra zest. I really enjoyed the blueberry lavender muffin - super interesting. Tried a few of the raw desserts, ask for the most popular as those were the best.

Fantastic Vegan Nachos in Tahoe! - Edit

IF YOU COME HERE, GET THE BLISSED OUT NACHOS!!! In Tahoe for vacation. Stumbled onto this place and was so excited to find a vegan restaurant, even though many places in the area note which options are vegan on their menus. (Always great to support small local vegan businesses!) The nachos were amazing. Also enjoyed a smoothie and a Cajun burger. Staff was extremely friendly!! If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely be coming back.

Want to support but - Edit

In town crewing and pacing the #tahoe200 and wanted to support small businesses. Had the pancakes and they were made to order and tasted good.

But I wasn't greeted when I came in and was difficult to even order despite being the only one there.

I owned an alternative record store so I get the more laid back cool vibe but I was basically ignored the entire time I was here.

Besides a brief conversation on there not being free wifi as advertised on this app, I felt ignored.

So I ate my $10 pancakes and left without acknowledgement.

Cute little cafe - Edit

This place has a cute, cozy vibe. There are a lot of different things to eat, including breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, and smoothies. Only downside is that it is a little pricey, but I guess it's worth it because it is all organic and vegan. The avo sandwich was 10/10 amazing!

Pros: yummy vegan food, cute atmosphere, good music, organic!

Cons: pricey

I love supporting this place because it is the only truly vegan place in SLT. Most of the food is great, It's pretty expensive and is slow because it's usually just the owner working.

Great little Vegan Cafe - Edit

Found this place on Happy Cow when spend in the day hiking in Lake Tahoe. The staff was great, Sandy the owner and the other young lady working (her name escapes me) were absolutely charming. The Blissed out Nachos were amazing (the menu said blue corn chips but there were not). Also had the Cajun sandwich which is really spicy by oh so good! Topped off with dandelion cinnamon tea. I would highly recommend anyone stopping by if you are in the area. Price was a little high it not horrible. Service took a little while but we didn't mind. My non-vegan friend had the same thing as me and loved it.

Pros: atmosphere , taste, staff

Cons: outside tables and chairs are flimsy, felt like it

Loved this place - Edit

When I was on vacation at Lake Tahoe I knew I needed to stop at this vegan cafe and I am so glad I did! I loved that the food was not only vegan, but organic and gluten free too! I wish I went at the beginning of my trip and not the end so I could have tried more of the food. The food was amazing, cooked fresh, and I thought the price was reasonable (better than what I pay for at home). Definitely recommend stopping here if you are ever in town!
