One of the best vegan restaurants! - Edit
I’ve been at Shyama several times now and every single dish I tried tastes amazing! Rich flavors, great texture and delicious overall. Only a tiny complaint- wait times for orders are quite long, but after I eat I forget all about it🙂

Saigon Tears - Edit
Crying about Vietnam and how much it's missed, I found myself here this evening. While solidly American style vegan Vietnamese cuisine and not the South East Asian experience I was hoping for, it is cooked fresh to order from a selection of mainly pantry ingredients. Sparse fresh veg. However. When I asked for fresh chilis and extra spicy the chef gave it to me and some fresh chopped chilis on the side which saved the day and all was forgiven.

Pros: vegan owned and operated, family business, begged for spicy and got it
Cons: missing some items (lime, basil), factory beyond meat in use, Americanized (a bit bland)

BEST VEGAN restaurant in the valley! Or maybe ever? - Edit
I have been here a few times now and have just about tried something new every time. Lin, our server, always makes great suggestions as to what to order. The flavors are so good. When I think of the food, I think fresh, lemongrass, spicy, crispy, crunchy, cucumber, mint, yum! We usually finish our meals here with coffee or tea. Everything we've had from the current menu is phenomenal, but I highly recommend the tacos to start!

Amazing vegan Vietnamese food from this mom/pop business. Sadly, the word hasn’t gotten out enough and there is a fundraiser to save this great business. Come eat here and if you like it, post a review and make a donation: https://gofund.me/5599eeeb.

2nd visit - Impeccable Vegan Asian Cuisine - Edit
The Miso Wakame Linguine with Oyster Mushrooms was out of this world. Such rich flavors! Strongly recommend it.
Read moreThe Tom Yum Linguine with Prawn Skewers (replaced with cuttlefish) was just as great. They really knocked it out of the park.
Tell your friends. This new-ish vegan joint needs word of mouth to get some momentum going.
If you still have space after (or before) a main dish, I also recommend the little Pate So (puff pasty meat pie). A treat!
Authentic feeling restaurant that will give warm memories to anyone who’s lived in, or visited South/East Asia.
Pros: All vegan menu, The flavors!, The selection
Cons: I recommend asking if any dishes are unavailable

Amazing food!!! A bit of a wait - Edit
I had the most incredible meal! They didn’t have the dish today that I originally wanted on the menu (jajangmeyon), but they made me a personalized version of the miso wakame linguine w/oyster mushrooms! They cooked the mushrooms without frying them, and added minced (veg) pork that normally goes in the jajangmeyon. It was so flavorful!! Highly recommend. I also got a beautifully-colored butterfly pea tea latte.
Read moreThe other dish pictured, what my friend got, is their bun cha ha noi (grilled pork patty vermicelli bowl) with imperial rolls (like egg roll). We both enjoyed our food alot and hope to go back soon to support the small mom-daughter owned small biz!
I took off a star because they didn’t have the original item I wanted (said they ran out last night?) and it took a really long time to get our food, even thought we were the only customers. Worth the wait though!
Pros: So flavorful, Great food presentation, Nice owners/employee
Cons: Pricy, Long wait, May be out of item

Amazing find! High end dishes! - Edit
The food was top notch. Felt like a high end restaurant nestled in a humble and friendly setting. Huge variety of dishes and we ordered 4 main dishes and 4 appetizers. They was all exceptional! My non-vegan friends kept saying I can't believe how good this tastes! Our new favorite restaurant now!

Great Addition For The Valley - Edit
Nice to have a fully vegan place in the valley. Very friendly staff. I had to wait for my food longer than told, but it was a busy Saturday night dinner rush, so I can understand. The noodles in my dish were very bland, but when mixed with greens and bbq duck it was better. I definitely want to try more dishes before making a full opinion, but looking forward to trying more.

Distinctively unique - Edit
A vegan south-east asian fusion restaurant concept is most definitely unique and original. Especially the restaurant being in Canoga Park it is a welcomed addition to the community.
Read moreI was very impressed with their menu selections as each item is something that appears to be crafted with a unique and personal spin.
We ordered the tofu lemongrass vermicelli bowl, the south/eastern spiced crispy popcorn chickun, the kimchi jasmine fried rice and the hibiscus spritzer and lime soda spritzer.
I really enjoyed the tofu lemongrass vermicelli as it had a thai/indian spiced curry with a hint coconut cream. The spiced popcorn chickun was delicious and flavorful and had a great texture. I would of liked a companion dipping sauce but it didn’t necessarily need it in regards to flavor I am just more of a sauce person so it’s a personal preference. The kimchi fried rice was flavorful and had good balance of spice. It did however had a bit too much oil for my liking but knowing it is a fried dish that is more on me. The spritzer drinks are not sweetened so it would of been better if it was labeled on the menu as unsweetened items.
Overall I highly recommend you check out Shyama as this place offers some flavorful dishes and everything on the menu is cruelty free! I am definitely looking forward to exploring the menu some more in the near future.
Pros: Vegan, Unique menu items, Spacious indoor dining

Truly Divine - Edit
That FLAVOR! I’ve never had dishes as unique and flavorful as the ones we had at Shyama — this place is truly a hidden gem. I love trying vegan Khao Soi variations whenever I can; Shyama’s take on the dish was the best I’ve had to date. The quality of the fare seems as if it could be upscale, but the prices are so so responsible. The hype is real — the deliciousness here it totally worth the drive to Canoga Park.

i have been to literally hundreds of vegan plant-based restaurants, but shyama still managed to delight and surprise me with their explosion of original flavor combinations:
