Korean
Non-veg

Serves meat, vegan options available. A cafe inside Seoraskan National Park, located near the cable car. Offers a vegetarian bibimbap, which is labeled veg in English. The gamja jeon (potato pancake) is another vegetarian option.

Not where shown on map

To get to it, go to the cable car station.
Looking out from the doorway, you will see a row of restaurants through the trees. This one is in the middle.

I had a potato pancake. It was a little bland, but I was glad to be able to eat indoors even though I was soaked from the rain outside.

Great option

I stopped here twice and both times got the potato pancake. It’s huge, so I would say worth the 17,000 won. The staff here are super nice as well. Not very many vegan options in sokcho, so it was nice to find something here. I believe it closes at 5pm.

Nice to have vegetarian options in the national park

We went around 16:30 and it closed around 17:00 on the day we went.

We were starving and exhausted so it was great to have vegetarian options available on the way out of the park. We had the bibimbap and potato pancakes. The bibimbap was ok, but lacking a bit of flavour. 10,000 won felt a fair price. The pancake was really good, and nicely crispy around the edges, though quite expensive at 17,000 won.

Pros: Tasty potato pancake, Convenient location

Cons: Closes quite early, Bibimbap was lacking flavour

Decent.

Got both the bibimbap and potato pancake, which was good but a little too greasy for me to eat it all. Showed them a screenshot of a card in Korean that explains veganism to be sure they knew what I meant. They insisted kimchi was vegan but I’m still skeptical. Everything else seemed legit!

Re-branding but same menu

The restaurant is located inside the Coffe Sol, next to the cable car. If you can’t find it on the map, google the Korean name 솔향 They changed their logo/menu but still have the vegetable bibimbap. Staff did not speak much English, but was very friendly and helpful.

Enjoyable meal

Vegetarian bibimbap was tasty. Cost was 9000 at time of our visit. No English spoken but English signs with pictures of what’s on offer.

Ok for a quick bite after a walk

I had the vegetarian bibimbap which can be served without the egg. Tasty selection of food, for a bit extra flavour be sure the add the spicy sauce.

Pros: Good price

Yep, 2 vegan dishes I ate there

What to say, there are not so many options to eat near the elevator to the top of Soraksan Mountain. I was there 6 years ago, and that's exactly what I ate there - Vegetable pibimpap and this fried stuff (which is overly greasy, but still good to feed my belly).
Whenever order pibimpap - specify that you don't want eggs (egg is KERAN in Korean)

Pros: Cheap, Close to the mountain

Cons: Just 2 options, Very greasy fried dish

The only veg options in Sokcho

I will preface this review by saying that there are few to no veg options in this lovely town. Luckily the hotel we stayed at had a breakfast which served porridge ( at least vegetarian) and fruit (pineapple and orange slices). This restaurant has staff that speaks limited English, so it's great that they have a sign advertising their veg offerings. The bibimbap was really good and the potato pancakes come in a large portion and are very filling. They have a nice selection of makgeoli to go with your meal as well. You can also get a corn on the cob for 2,000 won (2 us dollars) at the snack booth next door. The restaurant is located in the park so you have to purchase an entrance ticket if you want to eat there. You can take the 7 or 7-1 bus to get there.

Pros: Only veg offering in Sokcho, big portions

Cons: need to buy entrance ticket to park, limited options

park lunch

I came here after hiking up Ulsanbawi. Conveniently located just inside the park gates, by the cable car. Basically I was hungry and it was here. The vegetarian bibimbap comes with an egg, but you can ask not to have it. I doubt any of the panchan (side dishes) are vegan. Nice little veggie soup on the side, white rice, mix of veggies, kimchi, etc. I enjoyed it. At 9000 it's overpriced but it's tasty and it's right there.

Pros: location , it exists!

Cons: price, not truly vegan; a veggie option

Bit expensive

The food was ok. It's a bit expensive but anything inside the national park is expensive. I was happy to find something vegetarian.

Pros: Vegetarian options
