Wow so good - Edit
I live in Tokyo and this place in Wakayama City is better than any of the many great vegan restaurants in Tokyo. Huge menu, everything vegan and all three of us loved our choices. For such high quality food, the prices are great. They have three locations and we went to the wrong one. Since this one is open late and that is where our reservations were, the manager of the other branch drove us to this one. She was so friendly and kind. You have so many great experiences and meet so many wonderful people when you decide to become vegetarian or vegan.
Read morePros: Food just so skillfully made and delicious , Many great main dishes, also teas, juice, sweets , Very friendly staff. Wonderful decor
Cons: No down side, everything perfect!

Stellar, Fantastic Temple Food - Edit
Incredible food! I can't believe one of my top three vegan restaurants in Japan is in Wakayama-shi of all places.
Read moreShojin ryori refers to 'temple food,' which is customary Buddhist cuisine free of animal products. This cafe was able to take this concept and create a heart warming atmosphere with amazing food for the plant-based eater.
The food here was absolutely amazing and incredibly affordable. I ordered their Unagi-don set and it came with purple rice, Koya tofu (a local specialty), salad, soup, and pickled vegetables. Everything was presented beautifully and their unagi is in my top-tier of unagi I've had in my life. My friend ordered their Fried set with karaage, croquette, and more, and each piece was crispy and fried to perfection while not feeling heavy at all.
Afterwards, we enjoyed a couple of their desserts including their homemade chocolate cake and apple pie. Everything was delicious without being overly sweet, and made for a great end to our meal.
I absolutely loved dining here. Service was incredible with them checking in on us frequently and asking to make sure if certain ingredients were okay. We sat and chilled here for at least two hours and never felt rushed to leave.
Thank you, Foi. If I'm back in the area, know that I will definitely stop by again.
Pros: Amazing shojin ryori, Service was excellent and accommodating

Amazing experience - Edit
We went to this restaurant with no clue and it was a big surprise.
Read moreFirst, the place is very nice looking, warm and comfortable.
The food menu has a lot of choice for a vegan restaurant, the food was very delicious and the price super affordable for the quantity and quality.
We decide to try the onsen footbath in this restaurant while savoring a tasty soft cream, very relaxing experience. The waitress, an old lady was super nice and warm.
Amazing experience, we'll come back for sure every time we pass by Wakayama.

Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere - Edit
I can’t believe I never knew about this restaurant. They have a huge menu and our meals were absolutely delicious. I got some ramen and it was absolutely perfect. If there’s anything I didn’t really enjoy it was the coffee, a bit too bitter for my taste. I’ll get another drink next time.
Read moreAfter our meal, we paid ¥500 to use the foot spa and, my by surprise, they gave us free vegan soft cream! I’ll be back again!
Pros: Huge menu, Beautiful restaurant , Foot spa with free vegan ice cream!!!!
Cons: A little bit of a hike from the station (10min?)

fantastic restaurant for vegetarian&vegan! - Edit
I always had problem finding a vegetarian restaurant in Wakayama (not a big city), so I was really happy to find one finally! I go there once a week basis. They have a weekly platter, the main dish is always new to me. The amazing thing is, they have popular home-cooking Japanese dishes, such as “Katsu” (deep-fried pork) or “Karaage” (fried chicken), but of course not meat, substituted with “soybean meat”. This place is not expensive vegetarian food like served at temples in Japan. I also recommend their curry and hot pot. These really warm up your body. Their desserts are really good (not too sweet) and a variety of choices!
