pretty decent ramen, good service

i visited ouka with a friend after hearing about their spicy vegan ramen, as we're both from mexico and were looking for a place that would accommodate our spice tolerance for the night. although the kind staff (who spoke japanese, english, and even a little bit of spanish!) were initially extremely skeptical of our ability to order level 5/6 spice in our meals, they eventually gave in and they definitely met our heat expectations. unfortunately, we didn't realize at the time of our order that the spice came from what seemed to be thai chilies blended with a very generous amount of oil, which meant that our broth ended up with a thick layer of on top, making our meal THAT much heavier. not a great way to follow up the greasy soy meat starter. overall it was just okay. great spice level, but not much else going on.

i wasn't able to finish my ramen for oil reasons and also for "having eaten only a few hours prior" reasons, but the staff once again were lovely and offered to package my leftovers for me. i'm not sure if i'll be back though. i will say, i DID pour the reheated broth over my curry rice the next day and it was delicious.

Lovely staff and amazing food

Staff were so friendly! Very good vegan options; recommend the matcha frappe. And the leftover soup on the rice is verrry good.

Beautiful hospitality

Great ramen and fantastic staff. Soy meat and curry rice also great. Can't fault them.

Consider making a reservation if you are a punctual person

Great food and very friendly staff! They basically offer three types of ramen, one of which is a vegan ramen that you can order spicy or not spicy. The price includes a whole meal, and everything is vegan, including dessert.

There was certainly a wait when we were there, and apparently that’s the norm. The restaurant is small, so you’ll have to wait outside.

If you don’t want to wait, you can make a reservation on their website: http://halaltokyo-ouka.webstarterz.com/ We did this, and it worked perfectly, but as the website warns, it works a little differently than you might be used to. You order what you want and pay IN ADVANCE for your meal, and apparently you need to be on time, not even a minute late, or you forfeit your reservation and payment. But it worked perfectly for my husband and me: we arrived on time (obviously by “on time” I mean 10-15 minutes before our reservation time), walked right in past a bunch of people waiting outside.

I’ll definitely be visiting again soon!

Very friendly staff, the majority of whom speak English which helps if you’re visiting from the states. The vegan ramen is fantastic and is a definite must have.

Delicious and the atmosphere is friendly

The set meal of soy meat, curry and ramen is spot on. I’d recommend this place to anyone. It’s a small and simple menu but it doesn’t need anything to be added to it. I was really pleasantly surprised by the depth of flavour in the ramen. Highly recommended.

Pros: Friendly atmosphere , Ramen is very rich

Cons: None

SO GOOD!! Will def return

Incredible flavors: Indonesian chefs using Thai chilis to make a glorious vegan ramen. They suggest pouring some of the ramen broth in with the curry and rice, and it made my night! Restaurant is also halal. Entire staff and owner were incredibly friendly, and their vegan matcha frappe was just the thing to balance out the super spicy ramen (I ordered a 5 and was sweating a bit, and I live by chili). Owner gave me some vegan mochi with brown sugar dust that was a beautiful palate cleanser. Will definitely return!!

Pros: Quality of food, Knowledge of staff, English speaking staff

Cons: Only the two vegan options: normal/spicy

Worth the price

This place is more on the pricey side. A set menu comes with ramen, curry rice, fried soy meat and a drink. The portions are quite big but also pretty expensive (around 2,500-3,000 Yen).
However, everything tasted amazing and the staff was extremely friendly. We will definitely go there again when we can afford it.

Pros: Excellent food, Friendly staff, English menu & staff

Cons: Pricey, Quite limited number of seats

a bit pricey but worth it

When I first looked at the menu, I thought "oh s**t 2000¥?!" But then I realized that it would be an entire dinner set with a drink and an appetizer that was 100% worth it.
Had the vegan, hot ramen (3x🌶 and don't know if I could have handled 4) and a matcha frappé with soy milk.

The staff was super super nice. We had to wait a bit for a spot though, the management of the line didn't seem to work too well.
But I'll definitely come again!

YUM!

The spicy ramen was so good! I took the lightest level of spice and it was VERY spicy for me, but fun and warm and tasty nonetheless! The staff is VERY very nice and sweet, they speak English and some like to chat. Great atmosphere, very welcoming and cozy!!

Supernice

I loved the atmosphere of the place and the vegan ramen are amazingly delicious. There is always a line out front, so make sure to not be extremly hungry when you arrive. You have to write your name and the number of persons on a board. The very friendly staff are mostly Muslim women from South-East-Asia, they speak English well and are happy to help with the machine, on which you can choose your ramen. You can get extra rice with your ramen and ask for more rice and/or soup if still hungry. Take your Muslim friends with you, cause the place also sells halal ramen. Great restaurant!

Vegan ramen

When in Japan you want to eat ramen but nowhere is it vegan - until you find this place! Nice restaurant, warm and inviting decor and the staff, seemingly all women, were very welcoming and friendly and very open to and pleased to offer their vegan options. They speak excellent English so there is no chance of a mix up with ordering. The ramen was yummy, I had the least amount of spice and it was great - very filling.

Pros: Vegan ramen!, Super friendly, English spoken -good when not in a vego restaurant

Excellent

As others have mentioned there is only one veg/vegan option but it is very good. Lovely little place run by lovely people. Had to go back again the next day for more. Would have gone again if I was staying another day!

Great ramen and friendly service

Staff was super friendly and spoke excellent English. There is only one vegan ramen on the menu, with option of spicy/non spicy.

The dish included a starter (creamy soy of some sort) and a fried rice thing to go with the main meal.

Highly recommended!

Yummy vegan optiob

Any vegan visiting Japan will soon realise you really need to pre-plan where you’re going to eat, more than ever! We found this restaurant on an afternoon with zero planning and feared we’d walk around aimlessly hungry. But this small family run halal ramen restaurant offers a vegan ramen and it was very yummy!! We went for spicy ramen, really sorted us out and friendly staff who spoke excellent English.

Pros: Vegan option

Cons: Very small so could mean waiting, Only 1 vegan option
