Best Stinky Tofu - Edit
Cute family run restaurant. No English spoken or on menu, but they are very generous helping English speakers order. The food is super flavorful, and the stinky tofu was the best we have had in Taiwan.

Great find in Beitou - Edit
Happy Cow for the win! Family owned place, all vegan, fresh, and very inexpensive. They have an English menu but the owners didn’t speak much English beyond that so you just point to what you want on the menu. There is also a deli case with various cold side dishes that we saw people come in and order w/ rice as takeaway. We had steamed stinky tofu which was funky and delicious. You can pick your spice level, we went for medium and it had a nice kick to it but would probably go for hot next time. The dumplings are handmade and super fresh - all veggie filling, none of that cheap noodle filler. The noodle with special sauce was the only let down - it just wasn’t particularly interesting. I’d still go back to try some of the other menu items (and have more dumplings and stinky tofu)!
