Convenient Only If Going To Linggu Temple - Edit

The Linggu Temple is a Buddhist temple located 1.5 kilometers east of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. If this will be a part of your travel agenda while visiting Purple Mountain region in Nanjing, you will have the option of dining at Pine Lodge Vegetarian Restaurant. You will likely be arriving by taxi or bus and you will need to walk about 10-15 minutes from the Linggu Park South Gate. There will be some signage on the path noting the direction to Pine Lodge.

You will walk up a flight of stairs up to the temple and then make a right hand turn and follow the path for another 50 meters. You will need to have someone in your party read chinese as the menu does not have english translation. The staff that served on the day we dined there did not speak english. The other challenge is that the menu is relatively small being only about 8 selections.. We ordered the broccoli with king oyster mushrooms and the peppered soya beef strips and steamed rice. The food was nicely flavoured and plated. The food is expensive by China standards as we paid 140 RMB for the two main dishes and two bowls of rice. There is no air conditioning in the main dining room but we were offered a small private dining room with A/C. There is no compelling reason to dine at Pine Lodge unless you're making a specific trip to Linggu Temple.

Pros: Good Food, Peaceful Setting, Friendly Staff

Cons: Limited Menu Without Photos or English Translation, Long Walk From Gate , Expensive
