Vegan delights by the sea - Edit
I have visited Shanti twice - I would go more but I do not live near Saltburn-by-the-Sea. It is a lovely, relaxed cafe within an old school building which also has meditation and yoga classes etc. It is about a 7 minute walk from the railway station. It is vegetarian and vegan offering dishes such as lentil dahl with healthy brown rice, chilli and smoked paprika hummus, salad and flat bread. The chocolate courgette cakes were one of the nicest deserts I had ever had plus they do vegan ice cream (try the chai!) and walnut scones. There is an array of teas and cordials. The staff are really friendly and the prices very reasonable.
Pros: Tasty healthy food, Friendly staff
Cons: The ice-cream was not available on my second visit

Won't you take me to - Shanti Town!! - Edit
There's nothing shanty about Shanti but it is set in an old Victorian era school building. It's just off the main A174 / Markse Road road into Saltburn, not clearly signed from the outside but quite obvious once you know where it is. Parking is at the rear. Once inside any feeling of doubt is quashed by a sense of fulfilment as you enter the world of Shanti. It's tranquil, welcoming and intriguing. The decor has an Asian/North African feel to it and I immediately felt confident of what to expect. Vegan choice is excellent with the exception of dairy milk, halloumi cheese and some ice cream flavours. We had a hearty lentil dhaal on rice and a humous salad served on a home made chapatti style flatbread. Both were delicious. We also went for the house special pour-over filter coffee which was quite special and took some vegan cakes to go. Mains are priced very reasonably at £4.50-£7.50 depending on size. There is an excellent drinks menu too as well as home made vegan ice creams. I would love to come here for a night time meal sometime. That's maybe a potential possibility perhaps. You never know.
Pros: vegan choice, friendly, nice interior
Cons: not clearly sign posted

no old school veggie food served here. - Edit
This is a friendly and relaxed vege cafe/ bistro selling good quality food with a high percentage of vegan options (all cakes are vegan). The pour over coffee we enjoyed was made with such care and was well worth the wait. The intriguing vegan banana and peanut butter icecream is on my agenda for a future vist.
Shanti cafe understandably appears to be very popular and is a must when visiting Saltburn.
Pros: great vegan selection, excellent value
