Tasteful curry

They cook with fresh mineral-water. It’s very tasteful and - if you wish - Indian spicy! Hot!!!
You can sit on the rooftop bar, sometimes monkeys say hello and you can have a view on parts of the Taj Mahal in the third floor.

Pros: Different options, „Clean“, cooked with fresh mineral-water

Vegan Food close to the Taj Mahal

Here you can find many vegeterian and vegan options, which are really delicious. I liked the curry with onions and spinach with a plate of rice and roti.
You can eat at the roof top and see the Taj Mahal. Sometimes the monkeys will visit you there.

Pros: Vegan options available , Delicious food, Friendly staff

Very nice place

The owner is very kind, wonderful rooftop views and the food is delicious. It was also the first place in India where when I asked for no curd they actually gave me more dhal, instead of just an empty spot where the curd would go. Highly recommended

Good Thali near the Taj

The Thali is vegan without the curd and only costs 150 rupees. They replace it with dhal. Good food, cozy and close to the Taj Mahal, ideal for lunch.

the best place to eat in agra

the two brothers who own shankara are lovely people, really kind and friendly! we had amazing curry and dal that they really made "not spicy" for us, which was great! The ginger and lemon tea was lovely as well as the peanutbutter banana vegan shake. In general it was really great that they made the food vegan for us, so uncomplicated! I really recommend the potato, tomato, pea curry! If you are in Agra this is the best place to eat!!

Pros: super friendly, costomized food, freshly cooked

Great food, great view

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here (super tasty thali dishes), especially sitting next to the window, watching an ever-changing street scene. Chatting with the friendly owner made us feel very welcome.

Nice place to relax

The place was nice and cozy as outside was cold and hectic. The owner was very friendly and helped me choose which options were vegan. I tried the veggie and potato paratha. It seemed to be just eating fried bread. I couldn't really taste or see the veggies. The potato one was better in that sense but still felt only like oily bread.

Pros: Quiet and cozy, Nice atmosphere/warm

Cons: Heavy food , Not as tasty as I'd hoped

Amazing Vegan food with a view! Try the kofta!

As others have mentioned, the owner knows about people from happy cow coming here. Highlights of our meal were the kofta and tarka daal. Jeera rice was also excellent. Mixed veg curry was good but not standout. The owner also recommended a banana peanut butter shake/smoothie that he started offering (off-menu) in response to some vegans telling him about it. I had it and it was great!

Overall the food was a highlight of our trip for me and my omni bf.

Make sure you eat on the roof with a great view!

A relief and a delight

We walked into the restaurant and were greeted by the owner. We explained how we wanted some items made vegan and how it shouldn't have cream or curd. The owner said 'yeah yeah, vegan, I know how to make things vegan.' He then brought out some of the best food we had in India. It was great to not have curds pushed on us and to be able to relax. I will come back to this restaurant if I visit Agra again.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Great seating and rooftop, Friendly owner

Cons: Have to walk from the roundabout, Or take a tuk tuk to get there

Can’t beat it ;)

Delicious food. Owner is extremely accommodating and knows how to treat his customer well. Decided to let him decide, wasn’t disappointed. Left with bellies full and a smile on our face. What more can you ask for.

Top tip, enjoy a cold beer and some spicy pakoras on the roof terrace. Heaven !!!

Great vegan spread

Had an awesome two meals here. The owner is happy to recommend dishes that can be veganised - of which I would recommend the Veggy Kofta, dhal masala, mix veg curry, dum aloo & garlic naan. Make sure you tell the owner you found him through Happy cow & he will have a good chuckle about it with you 😊

Pros: Understand vegan, Selection of tasty options , Close to Taj east gate

delicious!

The best thali of India! It’s huge, filling and yummy! The place is nice and they have AC for the really hot days in Agra. They’ll put some more dhal if you’re vegan (instead of the curd). Come come come!

The best food in Agra

Gorgeous food at an extremely cheap price. The people that work here have brilliant English & know the word ‘vegan’. They’ll happily point out the vegan dishes for you & chat away with you at the same time.

We ate a garlic naan that they offered to make vegan (super scrummy), dum aloo, mixed veg curry, potato & cauliflower curry & a potato & spinach curry. All of these dishes are fantastic! We have eaten here two days in a row & plan to spend our last night here also.

Vegans get your [censored] here if you’re in Agra!

Pros: Price & food quality , Service, Close to Taj Mahal

Great little place with rooftop seating

This is the second time I've been here in 4 years. It was great in 2012 and still is now.
Close to my hotel and the owner is really nice.
The most important thing is the food, and that was very lovely. The prices are incredibly reasonable making you feel as a westerner that you're not being ripped off. Perfect for a backpacking solo traveler or couple. In 2012 I was with my partner, and now in 2016 I'm here alone. Had a vegan curried spinach disk and was amazing

Pros: Great selection of food both Indian and Western , Nice roof top seating area to eat your meal, Awesome advice at back of the menus telling you ho

Simple, organic vegetarian food next to the Taj

This place stands out among the restaurants closest to the Taj. It is efficiently run by two brothers, Shankar and Govinda, who both speak English well and always take time to chat with you. They use organic vegetables and dairy products which are grown on their family farm that also supplies the wholesale market. They will take time to talk to you and make your food to your specifications. I am a big fan of cauliflower and they let me order gobhi masala even though its not on the menu. You can order your food spicy or not spicy. The thali platter is good value and they will give you extra dal instead of curd if you wish. I don't do dairy, but I can attest to the appeal and beauty of their lassis. Just the sight of them makes everyone else in the place add one to their order. The owners are very interested in your feedback and really want to make you happy as well as continue to improve their service. The place has a couple of rushes during the day as the crowd fluxes and the rest of the time you can have the place to yourself. You order downstairs and then head for the roof if you wish, which has partial views of the Taj and a birdseye view of life in Agra. The wifi was working great when we there. I give this place four stars because of its proximity and dedication to vegetarianism as well as its kind and friendly owners.

Pros: Friendly, Great location, Good food
