I’ve been coming to this place since I was a kid before ever becoming a vegetarian. Their veggie lo mein has always been my go-to! They’re very reasonably priced with huge portions!

I just talked to the owner and asked about veg options. She said that every dish has a sauce with a chicken base, and that nothing could be made without it, including the tofu and vegetable dishes. So if you order, ask for no sauce or you’ll be consuming chicken

Decent Chinese Take Out - Edit
Shanghai has a clear vegetarian menu, including options without tofu. I like tofu, but I love veggies. My favorite dish here is hunan vegetables (spicy). I enjoy their food more than the other Chinese Take Out in Raytown.

I just talked to the owner and she said that they use chicken broth in every dish, including the tofu and vegetable dishes. I stopped eating there years ago because I could taste it. If you get something, ask to have no sauce on it. Otherwise, you get chicken broth base

My family loves that place, but I detected a meaty flavor so I started getting family tofu with no sauce. When I saw it listed here I decided to go inside and ask them. She said the broth is made in a large vat, then they use it to make all the sauces. I asked about a simple white sauce but she said it would also have chicken broth. Sad
