What was the hype for?

First time there, and it was Umm 🤔 okay. The atmosphere was your run-of-the-mill unpretentious, simple local Chinese food spot. Also, the staff were really friendly. It’s like the restaurant near your parents’ house that you’ve been going to for years; and even though the food isn’t that good, it still feels homey.
To be fair, I appreciate that there’s vegan options on the menu. Like the other reviewers say, most things can be made with tofu or soy curls.
I usually order a couple of different dishes to get a feel for the menu, but I was suspect that I’d regret spending money on subpar food. That was a smart move on my part because the food, even though it was vegan, wasn’t as good as the hype that got me there. I ordered two dishes. I tried the sweet and sour tofu with soy curls. The tofu was a little chewy—maybe a lot chewy—but it was decent.
I had the vegan moo shu with soy curls. For some reason I feel like it was missing something, maybe flavor? Don’t get me wrong. It’s not bad enough that if I were really in the mood for moo shu, I would be disappointed I ordered it, but why did I need sauce to make up for the flavor void? I won’t hate on the place; some folks really like the food here, so take my personal opinion as just that opinion. I can’t believe this is the best Chinese place with vegan dishes “in all of Portland”; say it ain’t so!

Tasty & nuanced

Go-to spot for clearly marked vegan dishes. Nuanced flavors and fairly large portions. The spinach potstickers are particularly satisfying… and huge! Kung Pao Tofu is also quite good. Recommended for the food. Atmosphere is just okay.

Great vegan options!

Almost all items on the menu can be made vegan if you ask. The sesame tofu is amazing!

Fresh and flavorful

We had the vegetable trio, spicy dry fried tofu (which wasn't spicy but had great flavor), and the mongolian soy curls. We enjoyed everything. We ordered way too much rice, though - a "large rice" is really very large! The vegetable trio was fresh and had nice crunch and garlic flavor. The tofu was surprisingly delicious and flavorful. The soy curls were also very good, although the flavor was different from mongolian dishes I've had in the past. Maybe just a different style. The tofu and mongolian soy curl dishes didn't include much in the way of veggies, so we were glad we had also ordered the vegetable trio to help balance things out. We ordered takeout toward the end of the night, and they had our food ready fast and were very friendly and kind. I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu.

Pros: Fresh and tasty, Generous portions, Fast and friendly service

Cons: Parking was a little tricky

Can't Go Wrong With Shandong

I ordered the pot stickers and Southern-style fried rice with tofu and no egg. The appetizer is better than the entree, but be sure to eat the pot stickers while fresh because they're not as good reheated the next day.

Pros: many vegan choices, big portions

Really Tasty Broccoli Tofu

We had a take out and ordered the Broccoli tofu with the vegan spinach pot stickers.

The broccoli tofu was really good. Really loved the crispy tofu!

The vegan spinach pot stickers were not so good unfortunately. They were really big and all mush inside which didn't taste that great.

I wouldn't get the pot stickers again but I would recommend the broccoli tofu.

Pros: Tofu and soy meat available

Can’t believe there’s oboe one review of this place on here

Best veganized American style Chinese in portland! The shiitake soycurl spinach potstickers are the best ever! Also the hand pulled noodles are amazing and you can get pretty much any dish with soy curls or tofu!! So good. This place is our Xmas eve tradition.

Excellent vegan Chinese food

All the vegan dishes can be made with tofu or soy curls, just ask. The vegan potstickers are one of the best things to eat in all of Portland.
