3rd visit - Edit
This was my 3rd visit to this restaurant. Oh the food is so good that you want to go back again. It is located in district 1 near intercontinental hotel. So if you are in Saigon center or nearby malls for shopping, do drop by this place for good and relaxing dinner.

So good we went there twice - Edit
Walked past Shamballa on our first night in Saigon. It looked lovely so we went there on the second night and had a fabulous meal - mushrooms, a tofu platter, delicious rice - and two outstanding mocktails.
Read moreWith a third night in Saigon we thought about alternatives, but there was so much we wanted to try on the Shamballa menu we ended up going back. The second meal was even better. More delicious mocktails with seared eggplant wrapped around strips of veggies and micro greens with a lime sauce, mushrooms in a black sesame crisp 'bowl', and a stir-fry of tofu and veggies with rice.
More expensive than other places but happy staff, great atmosphere, outstanding food and most definitely worth it.
Pros: Ambience, Amazing food and great choice, Lovely staff
Cons: Nothing at all - it's great!

Pricey but nicey - Edit
Almost passed on this restaurant after looking at the prices. Glad I didn't. Flavorful and quality ingredients. The fried tofu dishes were not vegan but the waiter said they could do it for me.

One of Saigon's Best - Edit
With my better half not venturing from our hotel, I walked the 2 km round trip to Shamballa for takeaway/takeout. Yes, I agree with other reviewers that it is expensive but the question is, was it worth it. Yes, very much so. I was greeted at the door and my order taken. I was asked if I had allergies, no, just that I didn't want egg as I was a vegan. I was told how long I had to wait and was given a complimentary iced tea. The ambiance was lovely, muted colours and lighting.
Read moreOur order was Quinoa Áp Chảo, Mỳ Hấp Lá Sen, Đậu Hũ Cầ Chua, Bánh Tứ Vị and Bánh Hỏi Lá Lốt. The dishes and containers of sauces were all labelled in English. All were fresh and tasty flavours. Quinoa was a nice replacement for rice. In the north of Vietnam one of the dishes I got for 5 days was tofu in sautéed tomato. Must have been the only vegan recipe they had for tofu! Here at Shamballa it was something completely different, a rich tomato sauce and tasty stuffed tofu.
If you are looking for something well prepared in a quiet setting I recommend Shamballa to all.
Pros: Mostly vegan menu, pleasant atmosphere , friendly staff
Cons: Upmarket prices

A welcome change in atmosphere - Edit
Shamballa was a lovely experience. The fish ponds, high ceilings, and finishing really provided a calm energy that juxtaposes the city outside. The food was unbelievably tasty, good portion sizes and service was lovely! I wanted the banana and avocado rolls and they provided it with a different sauce as the only non vegan part was the spicy Mayo dip. The menu is cleary marked for vegans. We spent 1000000 but we did get 5 dishes and a drink each - so yes it was the most we spent on a single meal but definitely worth the money.

Great - Edit
Vegetarian Restaurant with tons of vegan options. The athmosphere and interior is very special and thoughtful.
Read moreWe loved that they put superfoods in almost all of the dishes. Like cordyceps in the soup or lions mane in the baguettes. The menue overall seemed like someone really put a lot of effort into it.
Anyhow what I didnt like was that the waiters were not very cooperative when I asked for only a small change in one drink. Also the portions were a little bit too small.
Would definitely come again when I am in town
Pros: Amazing atmosphere, Very healthy, natural dishes , Beautifully designed dishes
Cons: Unflexible staff, Small portions

Quality and mostly tasty - Edit
We had a good meal here and most of the food was lovely. It is expensive though, and we had so many other delicious vegetarians meals elsewhere while we were in the city, this one was slightly disappointing.
Read moreWe ordered 3 starters which were all delicious, the Shamballa summer rolls, springs rolls and Seitan sticks. We also ordered 1 main the green curry which we couldn’t eat. Not a Thai/Asian green curry like you would expect, it was like a green spinach smoothie colour and consistency with a unappetising flavour. I’m not fussy at all but the taste wasn’t nice, neither of us could eat it. And we paid a lot for it.
Staff were lovely (but they did tell a table with children that they needed to quiet as it was a peaceful place).
Mostly good experience but just didn’t quite do it for us.

Expensive, but very good - Edit
About half of the menu is vegan. It's on the expensive side (for HCMC), but totally worth it. I had some fancy summer rolls (with roasted rice and mushrooms in it), roasted aubergine with rice and vanilla coffee ice-cream as well as the lychee aloe Vera iced tea. All of it was very tasty. Only downside would be that not all of the good stuff is vegan.

Only a few minutes from the Saigon Central Post Office and Nguyen Hue walking street, this restaurant has a great ambiance especially outside near the pond. Had the pineapple fried rice that came in an actual pineapple! Expensive but the flavours are great.

Vegetarian Greatness - Edit
I am a none vegetarian, but i love Shamballa place and menu. The food offers a wide variety of really tasty dishes, where i did not miss my meat dishes. For lunch a 2 or rooftop diner party there is enough choice a great surprises to my taste-buts. The staff is attentive and explains and advises without overloading your table with dishes. Great atmosphere a cozy relaxing place in this bustling town - i love it and will return (often)

Right in the Centre - Edit
A beautifully-designed restaurant nestled in the heart of Saigon, Shamballa offers spectacular views with exquisite dishes. I tried their Gac & Quinoa soup, Steamed Baguettes with Truffle, and Vietnamese crepe, all of which were scrumptious as well as being unique in flavour. The menu is also friendly for anyone with dietary restrictions since it has labels marking the presence of certain ingredients. Their rooftop offers a view of Saigon's skyline, a wonderful evening backdrop to a delicious dinner. Definitely recommend for everyone!
