CLOSED: Shambala

This is a small out-of-the-way restaurant, but it's definitely worth it.

From the Hotel Zone, take the R-15 bus to get here, the bus literally goes right past this place. Watch for a big Comex sign, that is when you get off.

The menu for this place changes on a daily basis. There's usually a daily special and some other dishes.

The first time we were here, the food was adequate, but not great. The second time, there were different things on the menu, and it was absolutely delicious.

If they have it, request the "tinga" - it's delicious!

It's very cheap as well, for 155 pesos ($10-12 US dollars) we got more food than the two of us could eat.

The owners are very friendly as well, and speak good English. The Canadian owner even gave us a ride afterwards to the downtown zone!

Having suffered through the disappointment of chasing down a non-existent raw restaurant list in Playa del Carmen, I was delighted when I brought friends to this restaurant and discovered that they had some raw options for me. The food's not cheap, but it sure was good.

Shambala is fantastic, fast delicious and healthy... steps away from the soccer stadium as well!
