Best meal of the year - Edit
What to expect from a steak and seafood restaurant? Usually, after 30 years, I have low expectations. Dang, we were pleasantly surprised at a 75 year old-fashioned restaurant.
Read moreFirst thing you notice when getting here is the awesome setting. Lots of trees 🌲 🌴, body of water and a super cool cable car 🚠 taking you down to the restaurant and back up to your car.
Next item of note is how clear the vegan and gluten-free items are labeled. My favorite dish of my life is fried artichoke hearts. They not only have vegan artichokes hearts as an appetizer, they have vegan aioli as a dipping sauce. The very warm rolls are vegan with a little oil/vinegar dipping sauce and are amazing.
The house sales was incredible with non-vegan items removed. We split the salad and were happy with the portion.
The main entree was wonderful vegetable medley with fried tofu. It was grilled fresh vegetables, coconut rice and friend tofu. I ordered the king trumpet mushrooms on the side which were cooked incredibly with oil.
Our waiter Andrew was the icing on the cake. Super responsive and great singer.
I highly recommend this for a special celebration just outside of Santa Cruz.
Pros: Artichoke hearts , Main entree , The ambience
Cons: Lack of plentiful vegan options.

Good upscale vegan dining - Edit
Very beautiful location and fun to ride the tram to get there. They had one vegan appetizer (the fried artichoke with lemon aioli) and one vegan entree (the grilled vegetable medley with coconut rice and fried tofu) and they were both tasty, well-executed and filling. They also made me a delicious alcohol-free pina colada (ask them to hold the whipped cream—- I didn’t realize it came with it and they graciously remade mine without it). Surprisingly not very high prices considering the touristy location and the proximity to the Bay Area.

Delicious vegan meal - Edit
I was the guest of a large group for dinner. Before going I made sure there would be vegan options.
Read moreI started with the deep fried baby artichokes which came with a vegan aioli. It was good although I felt the artichokes could have used some more seasoning.
The grilled vegetable medley entree was excellent. Often vegan options can be an afterthought and not that great but this was really delicious. The grilled chunky veggies were tasty as was the breaded tofu. There was a chipotle aioli with a hint of spice along with a sweeter sauce. I really liked it.
I was too full for dessert but they do offer a vegan sorbet.
Pros: Beautiful garden location on Soquel Creek , Delicious vegan options, Fun tram ride

Very nice dining experience - Edit
Visited Feb 2022. Menu has a few vegetarian/vegan options. Nice wine & cocktail selection. The grounds are gorgeous. Returned the next day for afternoon cocktails and snacks. They picked us up in one of their classis yellow taxis for free. Tip driver. A more upscale dining experience.
