It’s the only time I’ve ever been able to have pasta vongole (mushrooms here) and it’s so good. All the pastas are top notch. The desserts are astounding. The panna cotta is the one to go for if you’re only having one.

Creative & Tasty Italian - Edit
I love coming here! Nice patio & full bar. Staff is always great. I recommend the Caesar salad & beet pappardelle mushroom pasta. The portions are smaller & a little pricey as expected with a Matthew Kenney restaurant. Can get busy in the evenings so making a reservation is helpful! Some metered parking or the Chase lot across the street (~$6 for 2 hours).

Intimate Vegan Italian in LA - Edit
We thoroughly enjoyed several fine dinners at Sestina in NYC and were so sad to find it closed on our last east coast trip. So happy to see MKC open this one in Culver City! The two of us split a Caesar salad, a tie dye pie, and a raddiatore pasta dish, all fresh and delicious. Sestina’s now on our short list of LA favorites.

This place was phenomenal! We started of with the arancini, garlic bread, and stuffed peppers. The arancini was absolutely delicious and I will certainly have dreams about it. The stuffed peppers were fantastic as well.
Read moreFor entree I did the tagliatelle truffle pasta and tie dye pizza. I thought the tagliatelle was good but I wasn’t really a fan. The tie dye pizza on the other hand was one of the best vegan pizzas I’ve ever had.

Great but order carefully - Edit
We had take out two nights in a row this week. The first time we had pea ravioli which was exceptional, and tiny stuffed pepper appetizers which were unusual and we thoroughly enjoyed. The panna cotta dessert also was good. The next night we had pasta with vodka sauce which was pretty awful with very disappointing watery sauce. I would highly recommend not ordering it. We also had the Caesar salad which was outstanding.

Delicious Italian Dinner - Edit
Sestina is the closest I'll get to having delicious Italian food once more in my plant-based journey. Simply WOW.
Read moreWe started with the Veggie Calamari and out of all the faux calamari I've had at restaurants, this one was hands down the best. Great texture and top notch seasoning made this the perfect app. I'm not sure what it's made out of but I am a fan.
Our next two dishes were their Tagliatelle truffle pasta and the Papparadelle Mushroom pasta. OMG, the first reminded me of my days eating at Covel at UCLA - fresh pasta noodles tossed in a heavenly creamy truffle sauce. The later's mushroom goodness and wide pasta noodles were also *chef's kiss*
We did not stop there - finally, we devoured the Tie Dye Pasta, which was perfect for the three of us. Delicious flavors all came together for this one and is a must especially if you're looking for a cheese-less pizza.
Pros: Excellent variety, Great ambiance, Outdoor seating
Cons: Small portions

Amazing - Edit
We’ve been to some of MK’s restaurants before (Plant Food Wine, Double Zero) so we were excited to try out Sestina. Made a last minute reservation on a Sunday night and easily seated in the “garden” patio.
Read moreWe started with the stuffed peppers. So delicious! I’m still dreaming about them. I think they were peppadew peppers stuffed w a cashew ricotta and maybe some pumpkin seeds. There was something crunchy in there. We also got the Big Salad, a bit overdressed but nice and fresh.
Then we got 3 pastas: the elbows in vodka sauce, tagliatelle with truffle white sauce, and the mushroom beet pasta pappardelle. Our favorite was the elbows, but honestly all the pasta was fresh and cooked perfectly Al dente. The mushroom themselves were a bit over-salted for our tastes. We were tempted to get a fourth pasta. For dessert, we had a scoop of the pistachio gelato, limoncello tart and panna cotta. I think they were all pretty good. The gelato did need the pistachios on top though, otherwise it by itself wasn’t full on flavor.
Will definitely come back to try their brunch. This is our new favorite Italian place! Parking was relatively easy on the street.

Expected more for the money! - Edit
Ordered for delivery and was disappointed by tiny takeout boxes. Usually with pasta you get enough leftovers for the next day! I ordered fettuccine with mushrooms and my daughter had the elbows with vodka sauce. Mine was way too salty and hers was just okay. The vegan grated cheese though is awesome! We also split the arrancini and that was most okay. 3 small pieces with a big container of sauce.

I don’t know why this is better than the NYC sestina… maybe it’s the outdoor seating, but it is.

Vegan paradise! - Edit
As a vegan, I found Sestina to have the yummiest and most variety of pasta sauces of anywhere I’ve ever been!!! I found that they are not advertising themselves as a vegan restaurant, and believe that anybody, even those who are not vegan, will find these sauces to be delicious. I am dying for the recipes so I can trick my husband. Ok, I didn’t try the “Vongolese”, which might make it obvious. Can’t wait to go back!

Nice Pizza - Edit
I very much enjoyed my deliciously simple “cheese” and tomato pizza, although I prefer my crust non-charred style. I think they make excellent vegan cheeses. The big salad was good but less impressive, nothing super special. Tutti-frutti gelato was yummy.

WOW! What an exquisite vegan Italian restaurant. We loved everything we tried! We ordered many different items and they all rocked. I wished the pizza’s crust was a little more substantial, but the flavor was still out of this world. I loved the glass of Chianti too! Great wine and food.

Tasty and Fresh - Edit
Saw this on happycow and came to check it out. Was just here for outdoor dining dinner. The menu is fairly easy to navigate and offers a nice selection of dishes. Food tasted fresh and flavorful, though a bit more sodium then I personally like. Garlic bread was soft and buttery. Lasagna had nice texture. I would like to come back to try the other pasta dishes on the menu. Price point is ok/moderate though the portion is on the smaller side.
