You may have seen Farmer Mike, owner of Seed of Life cafe, walking around Frederick barefoot with a big ol' smile on his face. He runs a thriving CSA from Seed of Life farm, and gives CSA shares for free to those who can't afford it. On top of that, every third Sunday the Seed of Life cafe lends it's kitchen to Annapurna's Kitchen, a pay as you go vegetarian community meal that is primarily donated.
The cafe itself is in transition, formerly Juice Plate. You can get a tofu or hummus sandwich on lettuce, home made kale chips, a fresh juice to wash it down, and if you ask nicely, an iced coffee. While the food hasn't knocked my socks off yet, they are an up an coming cafe at which your conscience can feel at peace while you dine.
