Fantastic Second Visit - Edit
Having visited Seasalt and Passion on the offchance they may have something vegan a few months back, I was so pleasantly surprised. The owners were beyond fantastic when it came to showing what was vegan (almost too cool about it! - I always worry about peoples understanding). Anyway - to the point! That time the food was excellent, just at the top of what we could wish for. Anyway.... I visited this week, and to my satisfaction they have removed the salmon making them 100% vegetarian, and have extended their range to include many more vegan options. The food isn't the usual cafe style, infact it's the best quality food I've ever enjoyed - not only because the home made food is clean, tastes amazing, is presented extremely well, but because the portion sizes are big enough to make it beyond good value. Their menu almost more suits a sit down evening meal, but their prices reflect a reasonable cost lunchtime snack. But don't let that put you off! Also, I was amazed to be recognised after so long, told what was vegan etc, service you don't expect - but usually wish for! On another note the artwork on display and decoration is a mood-lifter. Bright none-offensive colours, giving a real good vibe about the place. Also, you can usually get an idea of hygene from the toilets - again no problem there. It's about time we had a place like this around east yorkshire. Excellent!
Pros: Vegan options clearly explained, High quality food, Friendly (but not OTT) passionate staff
Cons: Reluctantly: they don't open evenings.

The Best Place in Bridlington - Edit
At SS&P you will find superb, hand crafted home made food, a lovely atmosphere, a big welcome with a smile (so rare these days!) and bright colourful clean surroundings.
Portions are quite large here, but try to leave enough room try some of their wonderfully decadent home made cakes. Try their vegan heavy fruitcake, laced with brandy which I had, which was frankly, quite fantastic. They do a whole range of cheesecakes I was told, including really interesting ones such as cardamom and white chocolate, orange with Grand Marnier or even lavendar. Lavendar cheesecake ... who would have thought it!
Here you will find food such as nutty, sweet potato loaf, vegetarian flans, curry and dahl, falafal, pasta dishes, chestnut and cashew fritters all of which, are made entirely from scratch by the owners. They do not buy in and resell any food ready made. All the dishes on the menu, including cakes, scones and even the bread are made on the premises by hand.
The chef came out of the kitchen to speak to us and told us all about the Indian Upma which my partner had eaten, and how he learned to cook it from an Indian friend. He was helpful and knowledgable, and made us feel at ease (not like some eateries who sometimes appear to actually resent the customers). The other owner of Seasalt & Passion, who runs the front of house, also helps make all the food and as an artist, her artwork festoons the walls. She was a real down to earth Yorkshire lass; very chatty, welcoming and respectful.
Seasalt & Passion is very clean. Unlike some of the other typical seaside cafes in Bridlington, which have that slighty tatty, greasy edge to them. This place is very light and colourful with a fabulous folksy, rootsy, world music track playing in the background.
It's a pity you can't leave five stars on this site if a place is not totally vegetarian, because this place definitely deserves five! Seasalt & Passion serves only a couple of dishes with smoked salmon in - the rest is totally vegitarian, with lots of vegan options too. Our meal was extremely good value, and we took some of their own recipe hand made Damson Relish and Apple & Beetroot chutney home both of which were absolutelt delicious! If you are heading to Bridlington any time, forget the fish and chips and greasy spoon joints. Go here - you'll get a good hearty meal, excellent value, friendly service, quality food in lovely surroundings ... and it's just a minute from the harbour.
Pros: vegitarian, vegan, quality, good value, clean, brighht
