I used to get the avo or jackfruit tacos from the truck many years ago, so when I was near either of the 2 locations I would stop in for tacos. Last time I got the patty melt special on a whim and it was sooo good. This time I also came in for tacos but got the stuffed shells on a whim. Also so good! Now I’m just gonna try everything.

If you’re getting the waffles, you’ll be saving some for later or splitting it with a friend. They give a HUGE portion. I’d recommend the fried avo tacos — I haven’t been back in a while and still wish somewhere near me had those!

We have visited Newport 3 times now (over a 2 year period) and every time we go we just must visit Seabird Kitchen to sample there latest creations. There is usually something new and scrumptious on the menu.

We travel for work and have visited many of the internationally renowned vegan restaurants (Ireland, Spain, Australia, Crossroads(LA), Baia (SF), etc.) we must say that the food from Seabirds satisfies at the same level. Too bad Seabird doesn’t sell a cookbook, we would buy it.
They are located at the LAB which purports to be an experimental arts community. Great ambience and great visuals.
Pros: Updated classical dishes with their special touch, Interesting artsy ambience at the LAB, Fair amount of outdoor seating

There are some great vegan restaurants in Southern California. My first visit with 2 out of 3 items were exceptional. I was so pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Kale Cesar salad, the Purple Taquitos, and the famous Chaffee. The Kale Cesar salad was too salty to my taste but the Purple Taquitos and Caffle were perfectly made and just WOW!! I couldn’t stop talk about them to friends and can’t wait to revisit Seabirds Kitchens soon.

In town for a day and found this amazing spot. The outdoor dining is like having a picnic and the food was incredible. We came for brunch, I had the Porque Maria, like a croquet madame, and it was heaven richness. My son had the brunch tacos with a waffle on the side topped with almond butter and bananas. The walnut chorizo in the tacos was spectacular! My husband had the chipotle Florentine, which was a mouthwatering vegan eggs Benedict. Everything was so good. And coming from Texas with limited vegan options, California and Seabirds Kitchen Rick!

My favorite out of everything was the old town grilled cheese. It was smaller than I expected. The basil avo sauce they put in it makes it. It’s SO good. The outside is perfectly crisp, inside the cheese is melty. But the flavor when you take each bite...it’s an epic hit of flavor with the basil sauce. It’s almost floral and maybe even a hint of lemon? Whatever it is, it’s delicious.
The kale Caesar was okay. Wasn’t bad but I didn’t love it.
The jackfruit nachos were good. I loved the black beans/black bean sauce on it. Would be nice if the toppings were put on in layers instead of only on the top of the pile of chips.
The beets me burger was good. It was my husbands fave. I thought it was good but I thought there was a bit too much bun in each bite. Maybe because the bun is dense. But it almost felt like the patty and other toppings got lost in the bite and I tasted mostly bun and pickle.
Overall. We really enjoyed it and would definitely come back to try other things!

I came here with my non-vegan mother who loves cheese and even she was super satisfied with the grilled cheese and the quesadilla. We split a grilled cheese, tomato soup, a quesadilla and one of their rosemary cheddar biscuits. The workers are really friendly and very hygienic during the pandemic too! Their food was so delicious and everything on the menu seemed so good that we had a really hard time picking. We'll definitely be coming back next time we're in the area, it's a great restaurant and the area is pretty cool to walk around too while we're waiting for food. The only con is that it's a bit expensive (as is most veg food in OC) and the portions were good but not massive and I found myself wishing they were just a little bit bigger (that being said, my mom was fully satisfied).

Tried the grilled “cheese”, tomato soup, and waffles. All were delicious, though the soup had a sour taste. I enjoyed the food, though I went with my non-vegan family and a few of them said they didn’t like their meals, so possibly not the best option if you’re trying to please picky meat-eaters.

Had lunch here. Everything on the menu looks great but went with the burnt Brussels sprouts and cauliflower ceviche. Both were great. The sprouts had crunch and bite. The ceviche was like having fish ceviche. Same flavor profile with acid and heat.
