Worth the Wait! - Edit
Although the wait can be long, the food is worth the wait. Each sandwich is made fresh so that takes time. Lots of vegan options with other vegetarian options that can be made vegan. Won’t miss going to Sea Star Cafe when visiting Chincoteague, VA again.

Ok food when open - Edit
First, they seem to be rarely open. Banker hours maybe, even when other food places are open. But when open, the food is ok. More vegan options than most places, but its not all vegetarian or vegan. And lots of opinion stickers, if you like that sort of thing.

Cons: Not great vegan selection/not many options, Lots of opinions, Not open often

Cute little cafe. - Edit
We got the hummus and the Mediterranean wrap. The hummus is very good and a large portion. We bought extra chips at a local store to finish off the hummus.

A must-visit for vegans on Chincoteague Island - Edit
It was so nice to find a place that had more than one vegan/vegetarian item on the menu. A lot of places on the island have one token veggie item, and if you don’t like it, you’re out of luck. This place has an abundance of vegan soup, sandwich, and wrap options!

Cons: Moderate wait time, Closes early

Vegan life raft on the omnivore sea! - Edit
This is a takeout spot with some outdoor seating. It isn't completely vegan or even vegetarian so meat eaters will be happy too but for vegans it's a Godsend. The menu is clearly marked and there are several vegan options, usually including a soup. The food is fresh and good...have never been unhappy with anything and I usually eat here every time I come to the island.

Best vegan food on the island! - Edit
I’ve been coming here for years and sea star has yet to disappoint me. I always get the Malibu wrap or the tabouli wrap, both are vegan without any modifications and taste great!

Island Nirvana - Edit
Sea Star is the best thing, culinarily speaking, to happen to the Island since the first Native American tried the first oyster.
Read moreAlways fresh and good. Robust salads and sandwiches + 2 soups each day, along with some snack foods (chips, brownies, etc) and beverages. Highlights include: hummus, gazpacho. Some items are specified as "vegan" and others can easily be veganized. (Please note, they do not have gluten-free bread available.)
Pros: Very vegan friendly, High quality ingredients, Quick service
Cons: Only open in season, No gluten free bread or wraps available

Great Wraps - Edit
This place makes delicious, fresh sandwiches for vegetarians & vegans. I had a Tabouli wrap, so good & filling! The Malibu wrap was also great w their homemade hummus. They served a yummy three bean salad while we were there too.

thank god I found this place - Edit
I was recently vacationing here with my family and finding this little cafe was a lifesaver. The other restaurants on this island are barely equipped to handle vegetarians let alone a vegan. The food was great (they even had vegan cupcakes!)and very fresh. I enjoyed eating outside and found the employees to be very friendly. Although it is not entirely vegetarian, the menu is very clearly labeled so it was very easy for me to order lunch. I had a hummus and tabbouleh platter and of course one of the vegan cupcakes. The food was so good that before I knew it my husband had given up on his chicken sandwich (he is not veg)and was eating my food too. Which was fine because the portions seemed large to me. I am so glad that I found this place!

An Island Gem! - Edit
Sea Star is our favorite local eatery! The combinations of fresh ingredients are interesting & menu items are named creatively. There is always a soup or 2 with the Mushroom Brie Bisque or Roasted Tomato Red Pepper being my choices (the Gazpacho is the best ever, too!) All food is prepared fresh & made to order so any wait is definitely worth it!! The sandwiches, wraps & salads are large portion sizes so a meal is a huge value here. Come hungry.
