Serves meat, vegan options available. Schnitzel eatery with a vegan schnitzel option available in meals, rolls, and wraps. Crumbs and chip seasoning are vegan and also has vegan mayo and cheese. Reported closed May 2024.
Of all the options we have in Gladstone, their vegan schnitzel is decent and something you can have more than once. Has a gluten free crust. Young kids at the counter seemed unsure about vegan options, but we had no problems ordering home delivery.
So we get into Schnitz and order a vegan plate and a vegan wrap. In my plate there was a side salad, I ask the guy at the counter of the dressing is vegan, he says « pretty sure it is ». I had to check online on their allergen statement, turns out it was not (milk and eggs) and had to ask for another one. Then we get our plate, my boyfriend gets the wrap, starts eating and when I looked at his schnitzel it looks exactly like chicken when mine was made of veggies (like it is stated in the restaurant). I tell him, he asks are you sure, maybe it’s fake chicken, you know how they make fake ones that look exactly like the animal version etc. I tell him something’s wrong, I go check at the vegan schnitzel they offer once again, it’s indeed made of veggies. He tells me to try a bit of it, I had the mistake of chewing a tiny bit and by then I was sure it was chicken. He goes to the counter to ask about it, it WAS chicken they had put inside and they offered to make another one. I’m getting really angry and ask him if he wants me to come and talk to them (we’re both French but my English is better than his) because I want our money back. He’s a bit on the calm side, I’m the angry and emotional one, he tells me to keep eating and that’s fine. Meanwhile I think of the dead animal I just chewed on, of how much he ate (about half the wrap) and I start having the urge to puke and a panick attack. I go outside, then to the bathroom, try to calm myself down and stop crying.
When I get out of the bathroom my boyfriend is here, I go cry a little more and he tells me he told them to stop doing the other wrap, saw the manager, got refunded and got out.
Anyway, if you’re reading this and want to go to Schnitz, please MAKE SURE YOU ARE GETTING WHAT YOU ORDERED.

Read morePros: More than one GF vegan meal option, Hits the spot for a craving, Happy to have somewhere to eat!
Cons: Very oily, Small servings, you might still be hungry, A bit overpriced for how filling it is
