Love it - Edit

Love the place!

Unfortunately the place will close it's door permanently at the end of Januari '17.
Very sad to see such a delicious, original and fun vegan restaurant go.

So pay a visit while you can!

Good food and good value - Edit

My girlfriend and I visited this restaurant while on holiday based on online reviews on this site and tripadvisor.

It is quite small (as vegan places often are) - it has a few outside tables along with a larger number inside in the form of wooden pallets as the tables - and overall the place gives off a fairly warm and welcoming impression.

One of the main reasons we chose here was based on the varied menu which includes salads, pastas, pizzas, burgers and flammkuchen - all are vegan but for optional cheese that you can add to some of the burgers and pizzas.

We had starters (Saucenflight and Polenta wedges), mains (Gibraltar Flammkuchen and Maultaschen) and desserts (Chocolate Mousse and cheesecake) and had no complaints with any of the courses, or the price (55 euros which included drinks.)

Service was occasionally on the slow side even though it was a fairly quiet Sunday night, but given that everything else was spot on we weren't overly bothered.

Favorite place in Dusseldorf so far - Edit

Schnell Veg is an alternative-rustic-styled venue (tables out of europallets and with beer bottles as flower vases) with lots of indoor and outdoor space. By the way, all the fresh flowers looked really lovely, but they don't looked like hand-picked somewhere around, which would be great, rather than imported from Kenya, which would be an ambiguous issue.
Anyways, Schnell Veg is definitely a comfy place where you can sit around for hours. The menu offers a variety of tempting meals, many of which seem to be special creations. I had a so called "Flammkuchen", a pizza-like dish, which first was surprisingly vegan and second tasted great. It was pretty hot though due to harissa and roquette; I wouldn't be able to eat it without something to drink aside. I'd like to emphasize their sharp knifes, because often times you would only have some blunt, pretty much useless knifes, since you can't cut with those anything properly.
The prices for food were moderate, whereas the beverages could be a bit cheaper.
Staff was very friendly and attentive. I hadn't much waiting time (I even got a small toasted bread with a special spread before the main menu was ready); in this respect they live up to their name (since "schnell veg" in German means something along the lines of: quick veg[an]).
So all in all a somewhat hipster place, but a nice one. They have good Wi-Fi connection too. Recommended!

Pros: almost everything vegan!, comfy atmosphere, special food creations

Cons: beverages rather expensive, imported flowers (?)

Delightful - Edit

My girlfriend and I were hungry in the Düsseldorf area so we used Happy Cow to find a place to eat. She loved her pasta bolognese and I had the best burger ever! The place looks nice, the staff are very friendly, the menu is quite extensive and the prices are reasonable. We are going to eat there again.

Pros: Menu, Staff, Prices

Cons: Parking

Worth a visit - Edit

While passing through Dusseldorf, Germany recently, I researched ahead of time to find a good vegan, or at least vegetarian, restaurant to have dinner at, and came up with Schnell Veg. It turned out to be an excellent choice. I ordered the Vegetable Linguini (zucchini noodles) with Almond Pesto, which was so good, it could have come from my own kitchen - now that's quite the compliment! The only negative was the over-abundance of garlic, which I normally don't eat, but on the positive side the garlic was fresh and well-prepared, and not dried or stinky bad garlic. I also ordered a glass of Reisling wine, which was lovely, fruity and light - an excellent combination! My meal was so good that I decided to get a burger to go to eat on the plane the next day. I ordered the Tunis Seitan Burger, which was no-doubt the best burger I've had in ages. Great flavor and texture, and the sauces were a good match. The take-away containers leave a bit to be desired, but do look very environmentally friendly, so that's something. The only real negative part of my experience was on entering the restaurant, immediately and abruptly being asked if I had a reservation (there were just 2 or 3 empty tables, in addition to the empty bar and the tables outside). Of course, I had not made a reservation since there was no mention of needing to on the Happy Cow website, or on their facebook page (their website is just a page-holder at the moment). The waiter eventually decided to let me have the table just inside the door, which actually wasn't so bad as it sounds. Also, as it was quite busy, it seems that they could have used another server.

Pros: Excellent food, Good portions, Good prices

Cons: Bad acoustics

New VEGAN in town, jummy Burgers 'n' Co - Edit

Have been there last Saturday (July5th'14), we tried the burger and 'Flammkuchen'. Food was just great, but we waited a bit long. Looks like the staff still need to get used a bit to their new restaurant, but was worth it. Food is good and inexpensive. Staff was always nice to us. All dishes on the menu are vegan.
Later on we've ordered dessert (fresh and warm vegan cheese cake) - great!
You may check their Facebook page while their homepage is still in construction.
