Allrounder (breakfast club, beer garden, cafe, restaurant)

Scheunecafe is a cute lil spot you could nearly miss due to being a bit hidden.
But once you found it, it is the perfect place for spending a while. You can get breakfast from 9am to 2pm, food from 1pm till they close & coffee, cake or different (alcoholic) drinks all day long.
Everything is at least vegetarian, some food is naturally vegan & a lot can be veganised. Prices are okay, but the meals you can order seem to be a mixture of fancy & down to earth. If you're sitting in the garden, you can even watch them being freshly prepared.
You should definitely try this one! 🫶🏻

Vegane Auswahl

Amazing place !

Perfect location for Indian food in a nice atmosphere, located in the middle of the Neustadt. We had different dishes (Dal soup and different vegan and vegetarian curry dishes) and I could tell which one was the best ♥️

Pros: Food, Outside seats on a big trrasse , nice location in the Neustadt

Better for a beer than vegan food

Is it possible to combine a German Biergarten with Indian cuisine? That is what Scheunecafe in Dresden believes and we wanted to see whether we agreed.

When we saw the café in Happy cow we thought it would be a normal cosy cafe among the other restaurants on the street. But the place is so big, that we first did not notice it. We soon found out that you can go here either you want to have a good lunch, drink some beer or – as we did – enjoy a nice breakfast to keep us full for a whole day of walking around and being touristy. We chose a table in their big outdoor seating area (just like a Biergarten should be) and had a look at the menu. They only had two vegan options for morning meals, so both of us ordered a “vegan breakfast” – two pieces of bread with a plate of several different spreads. Some of them, as the tomato paste (our favourite!), the hummus and the avocado cream, were homemade, while the crunchy peanut butter, the marmalade and probably also the bread most likely were bought (it at least tasted like that). Hands down for the home-made spreads, but the rest? Well, it was okay, and we left with full stomachs, but otherwise, it was nothing special. So even if you can combine a Biergarten with an Indian restaurant, we’d still believe it’s better if they are separated. Or they simply must put even more effort in the food-part, because we’d rather suggest this place for those Saturday drinks.

Pros: Their homemade spreads

Cons: Not many vegan options, Bad combo; German Biergarten with Indian Cuisine

Not cheap and a bit of a waste

We came here for breakfast because it was open and the restaurant was spacious and pleasant. We ordered the vegan breakfast (€7,20) and the breakfast potatoes (€7,20). The potatoes were a bit plain and dry and there wasn’t much of them for the price. The vegan breakfast was good, with a number of spreads and fruit, but there was far too much for the amount of bread. Even when we ordered an extra baguette we still had to waste a significant amount of the spreads. It wasn’t exactly cheap either and I would only go if nothing else’s was open. We had drinks in the beer garden later, which was pleasant.

Pros: Pleasant space , Relaxing beer garden

Cons: Not cheap, Wrong proportions of bread and spreads wasteful

Not much vegan choice

The venue is really nice and cozy, but it's not very vegan friendly for a vegetarian place, imo. There is a vegan breakfast plate at least, but in the evening menu there's no vegan starter or dessert, which is too bad because it would be nice to grab a little something and a drink before a show in the club upstairs. I'll update my review and give more stars if at least a vegan dessert is added.

Pros: Nice venue, vegan breakfast, vegan choices clearly labeled

Cons: Not much overall vegan choice, No vegan dessert

Hey,

Thanks for replying. Glad to hear that more vegan dishes will be added! My review was based on what is standard for most vegetarian restaurants, where usually at least half of the menu is vegan. By dessert I meant an actual cake/proper dessert. I still really liked what I had, I was just disappointed to not have as big of a selection. Cheers!
