Great place, nice buffet

Found Sawobali restaurant near my Guesthouse and really like the food options here. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming as well as the buffet. The price you pay is well worth it. Appetizer, main meal and a small dessert.

For the people who don't understand the rules...you definitely aren't a business owner. They are quite fair and easy to follow...owner is quite nice as well when you chat to her.

Highly recommend.

Pros: Buffet, Food options, Nice owner

Yummy and affordable vegan buffet

Small, simple place that offers a vegan buffet from 12-8pm.
Doesnt look fancy but is really delocious and nicely flavoured.
We paid 50k per person for 1 hour vegan buffet all you can eat. Incl. water refill.
Different protein options, rice, noodles, potatoes. Nice, hot chili sauce.
Great place to go for when you are hungry and dont want to spend too much money.
Total recommendation!

Pros: All vegan, Really low price

Fantastic value for money

Not only is the food cheap, it’s also incredibly tasty and of a large variety. From starters and salads, to mains and desserts, all you can eat for one hour. Also sell vegan cheesecakes, ice cream, teas and coffees!

Highly recommend for an affordable and delicious meal!

Tasty and cheap

You can eat buffet for 1hour for just 50k.
They have a big variety of all vegan food.
Probably the most affordable and best tasting place in Ubud.
The food isn’t spicy, but you can add spice if you want to.
The milkshakes are awesome, but we didn’t like the cheesecakes. They offer a variety of vegan desserts included in the 50k.

Incredible Value

At Sawobali you fill your belly with salad, entrees, and desserts for 50,000 Rp (the cost of a small plate at a bule-owned restaurant before tax & fee).

Locally-owned, Balinese-centered foods, all-you-can-eat buffet, budget-price… there’s nothing to complain about.

The fresh salad bar, flavorful curries, and rich fried foods were my highlights. Trying each of the cassava- and rice-based desserts was a sweet opportunity to engage with Balinese food culture as a vegan.

You can also purchase juice, smoothie, tea, coffee, ice cream, and cheesecake. The passionfruit icecream was creamy and dreamy, but I found the cheesecake to lack the thick creamy texture and rich flavor I expected.

First bad meal in Bali

Don’t think I’ve been anywhere before with such a contrast to what others are saying vs how it actually is.
Buffet food was sparse and not generous in terms of ingredients at all (bread, potatoes, rice). The taste was ok. But mot great. Probably a 4/10.
Then my latte (at an additional price eventually comes out).

Pros: Edible

Cons: Woeful coffee, Mediocre food, Sparse choices

Delightful unassuming

They were providing many options at a good price. Bathroom was broken.
For 50,000 and 40,000 kids we are well and had many options. Loved being able to make a salad, or eat soup.

Good vegan buffet food for a cheap price

Good vegan buffet food for a cheap price - 50k for 1 hour.

The food is good, there's fresh salad, soup, lots of tempeh and veggies. Personally, I've found many of the dishes overly sweet, but there are lots of yummy options. The rice noodles with vegetables are great.

One really off-putting thing is that they have such strict rules plastered everywhere! It makes you feel on edge - if you stay over an hour you pay twice, no children, if you break a plate you pay, pay first... I don't know if they've had bad experiences in the past but it doesn't create a nice atmosphere.

Note: While the buffet is vegan, the majority of the cakes they sell are not.

Pros: Cheap price, Fresh veg and salad included, Small dessert selection

Cons: Strict rules, A lot of the dishes are overly sweet

Disappointing

From all of the 5 star reviews I was expecting premo veg food. I do not agree. Out of the 7 dishes I tried, I only enjoyed two. The dishes didn't seem fresh and they were lacking in flavor. Also contrary to the multiple signs saying 100% vegan, there were some desserts that were not. The dinning area was very crowded and hot. I really don't like giving veg restaurants bad reviews but this was not good in my opinion.

Awesome buffet

We went there for the buffet at lunch time, it was so good. All vegan buffet and many vegan cakes.
We ate soo much food for only 75k RP, which is basically nothing for the amount you can eat. All the food was super tasty and the people were really kind. You also get more of a local experience. Would definitely recommend if you’re very hungry (or just a little).

Great place for lunch

One of the best places for lunch. Their buffet is fully vegan, tgey also have some vegan cakes. All you can eat buffet for 50k idr. Best deal in town if your hungry. It gets boring after a while but the selection of foods is great. Very tasty bboq tempeh and mashed potatoes. So easy to overindulge !

you get what you pay for!

75K is a bit expensive for a meal, but they have quite a large selection (10-12 hot dishes), ~6 salad dishes, lots of difference sauces, crunchy things, soup, and several dessert options. plus with premium ingredients (beet, avocado, nice mixed greens, big chunks of tempe, seaweed, etc.) and being constantly refreshed, so you can get your money's worth =)

there is quite a large drink list (separate), i didn't get a good look at it. juices, smoothies, tea, coffee. there are also Western-style desserts you can order separate as well, those are around 25-35K per slice, i think.

no photos, since i was distracted!!

i didn't know that there was a refill limit (as mentioned by another review), we ate LOTS........ really, a lot!
