Updated menu and tasty vegan meatballs! - Edit
Sävel has updated their vegan dishes and now you can have a burger, flambee or vegan meatballs. Meatballs are so good! Texture and taste was perfect. Mash was delicious. Lovely place to have a beer too.

What a shame - Edit
Unlike many - even most - restaurants in Helsinki, the vegan options on the menu at Sävel have decreased and become less exciting over the last few years. Sure, you have a few standard options like a burger, but everything is rather underwhelming, the lunch buffet has next to no vegan dishes, and the restaurant is clearly steering away from being a potential option for vegans looking for a cosy place to eat and drink a few pints. This is really a shame, for the menu had interesting vegan options back in the day, and the decor inspired by 30s to 60s Finnish movies is quite pleasant. Wouldn’t recommend to any vegan. The second star is purely for the fact that a vegan wouldn’t starve to death here.

My husband ordered the chickpea burger and I had the beyond burger. Both were delicious and very satisfying portions. Burgers are served with yam fries and a choice of three vegan mayos.

Really love this place. Not only you can find some different local beers (I adored them!) but also three different vegan burguer choices. We ordered seitan and soya and specially the first one was delicious! It includes sweet potatos (boniato) which was also great.

Sävel has some nice vegan burgers and they celebrate the Meatless October campaign (Lihaton Lokakuu) with some new recipes for vegan burgers. Worth it especially in October!

there are actually two sävels, one in hakaniemi which is a bit more like a pub, and then töölön sävel, which is a "proper" restaurant, decorated with 1950s stuff.
Read moreI've been to both and they actually had slightly different dishes to choose from. both had burgers (at both places they were really great), but at the one in töölö I also had a extremely delicious salad with smoked tofu and vanilla balsamico sauce... so good!
I usually recommend going there to everyone, the prices are also normal for Finland (I think around 15€, but you will be full and happily satisfied for sure :))
