love saramago - Edit
i wanted to update saramago after a recent visit.
Read moreit's probably my first choice for eating when in glasgow which is probably as big a compliment as it needs. the menu has such a variety of options and sunday brunch is always a winner.
i always feel as though there is an emphasis on healthy food as well as an attempt to combine new flavours. i also like it as it avoids going down the burger and fries route that so many places thrive on. you can get the fried craving if you require and i would always suggest the haggis balls which are fantastic.
i always get food envy and its a good place to share and the many small plate options thet have. they always have a snadwich soup combo which work well and they have some fanatstic salads which leave you stuffed and full of goodness.
i have to mention there are two parts to saramago, the cafe downstairs which is great if you have kids and the bar upstairs which has a great selction of beers also.
back again and loved a pizza without cake cheese, so much healthier and better tasting.
another visit and the pea and tempeh salad. the side of tofu tempura was fantastic, as was the salad.
Back again for a pizza, Thai salad and a couple of weeks plates for the nipper. Fab.
My only complaint is the menu needs an update, been a while now.
Great to see it back open again. Great mezze.
Deep fried haggis and a Glasgow salad. Yum
Pros: big selection, great combos, a lack of processed food.
Cons: need to update the menu more often

Delicious food and great outdoor seating in a quiet corner in the centre - Edit
Spent a Saturday afternoon on the terrace in the sunshine having a super yummie mezze platter, then went inside for desserts when the rain came. Friendly service and great selection of delicious food and drinks. Favourite spot in central Glasgow, just off Sauchiehall Street.

Tasty, varied and relaxed - Edit
I ate here one lunch time between meetings and I WAS SO FULL afterwards all I had back at home for my evening meal was a couple of nuts and some dried fruit. And I'd only ordered the salad and cheesecake! The salad (wild rice & marinated tofu) was really, really tasty with lots of other things in it, really love saucey flavour and came with lovely fresh homemade bread and dipping oil. I was really very full after just the salad but I could not let the choice of desserts pass me by so opted for the lightest one, the cheesecake, and had to go very slowly! It was also really tasty.
Read moreRelaxed vibe, busy but not crowded, not cheap-cheap, but worth it. Salad was £8.50, and dessert was £5+ I think.
Pros: Very tasty, All food vegan, Relaxed

Fanstastic - Edit
The pizzas need to come with a warning, do not eat if you want room for pudding 😄. The whole menu is vegan with 6 pudding options too, i was beside myself. The pizza was great, but defeated me on the final slice. The olives are the biggest I’ve ever seen. Charming, friendly, attentive staff that aren’t intrusive. I’ll definitely be back.
Read moreTheir spring menu is great, wild garlic pesto was very good, the ramen and crispy tofu very filling. The highlight though has to be the sourdough waffles with peanut butter caramel, banana and strawberry sauce.

Disappointing. - Edit
I had the pasta with walnut pesto. It was overcooked and fairly tasteless. Had very high expectations after reading all the reviews so I was disappointed. The setting and music was great though.

Great location helpful staff - Edit
Visited here after a day of vegan outreach in city centre. Staff were really helpful especially as there was a big group of us at short notice. Food was great and a nice chilled atmosphere.

Lovely Cafe, Great Sandwiches - Edit
All the food is vegan but they do offer dairy milk for hot drinks. The vegan milks they offer are soy and almond milk.
Read moreThe reuben sandwich (£6) was super delicious. Love that they used tempeh and sauerkraut in it.
The menu is seasonal and everything on it sounded amazing.

Fantastic! - Edit
What a fantastic place! It’s the inner courtyard of CCA, so your surrounded by art and artsy folk. The menu selections are varied, the servings are beyond generous, and it doesn’t hurt that all of the staff have a super hot artsy vibe. I’ve been here three times in my two-day visit, and I wish I’d come back more often.
Read morePros: Great vibe - casual, artsy, friendly, fun, Large portions - sometimes too large , Reasonably priced - you won’t go away hungry

Great food in a wonderful place - Edit
Eating at Saramago is such a joy, both because the CCA's interior is stunning and due to the fact that the food there is amazing.
Read moreNevertheless, I found it a bit irksome that the menu didn't explicitly state which dishes are vegan. I assume that most of what they offer is plant-based, and they should really advertise this more.

Best vegan food in Glasgow, awesome location! - Edit
If you are after great and affordable vegan food in Glasgow, look no further and have it here! As opposed to the many fatty pub-food options in the city, you get some real nice dishes here with perfectly balanced flavors and fresh ingredients. Given their quality, the prices are almost cheap - a main course costs only about 8-11 pounds, which is just average for a vegan meal in Glasgow. Everything on their food menu is vegan as well, only for coffee they offer dairy milk as an option.
Read moreThe location is also quite great, something like and old court covered under a glass roof right in the CCA (Centre for Contemporary Art). The Staff was outstandingly friendly as well. I cannot recommend this place enough!
Pros: Best vegan food in Glasgow by a margin, Inventive, perfectly balanced and fresh food, Very friendly staff, awesome location, inexpensive

Great restaurant, great food and art to boot - Edit
One of the best restaurants in Glasgow - maybe even THE best.
Read moreGreat for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, but my favourite has to be the soup and sandwich lunch deal. The bread is fresh and tasty.
Located within the CCA, there are few other places that could boast great meal and contemporary art exhibition in one.
Pros: Great range of food, Lovely setting and central, Gallery and bar

The best - Edit
Unquestionably the best vegan cafe/restaurant in Glasgow. Excellent food and atmosphere - try the butternut squash wrap! Plenty of seats, nice staff and a great place to work too. They also have oat milk which is a massive plus :)

Best vegan sandwich in Glasgow - Edit
I've tried most of the menu in Saramago but my absolute favourite will be their humble tofu sausage sandwich. Their bread (that they bake on site) is so ridiculously good. The sriracha mayo just brings it together. Also love their warm brownie and affogato.
Read moreThe only downside is the service can be painfully slow. Not good if you are a quick eater that just likes to get in and out.
