Excellent, authentic Indian cuisine - Edit
I'd heard a lot of good things about this place and had high expectations and I'm glad to say it didn't disappoint. I went with two non-veggie friends, who were pleased with the food.
Read moreWe had the obligatory poppadums to start while we chose our meals and I was impressed with how interesting the menu sounded and with the large number of vegan options (around half of the menu, marked with a 'V').
In the end I went for the Dudhi Dal Nu Shaak, which was really tasty, wholesome and had a depth of taste with just the right amount of spice. My friends had the Vegetable Harabhara (great pick if you like spinach) and the Malai Kofta. The rice and the selection of breads we had were also good.
They have a good selection of vegan ice-cream for dessert and the Gajjar Halwa (with grated carrots) was delicious.
The price was also really reasonable, but my only criticism is the atmosphere/furnishing, which kind of just felt like a standard British-Indian restaurant rather than having an Indian feel.

The food here is absolutely incredible and very fresh. There are a lot of options for different types of dishes, and a really good atmosphere. This place is very popular so do make a reservation.

Decent place for vegans - Edit
Our first visit to Sanskriti and we were generally impressed. It's a 10 minutes walk from Mauldeth Road station and a few buses stop almost outside including the No 25.
Read moreIt was pretty busy when we went in (early Sunday evening) which we thought was a good sign. We had a choice of dishes (starters and mains). My favourite was definitely the dosa which you don't tend to see in quite so many places. The food was tasty although some of it was a little spicy for my kids - they mark spicy/hot dishes on the menu, but some were not marked as spicy and were a bit too spicy for their palates (maybe a 1-3 or 1-5 chilli marking by each item would help?). We came away very full, so weren't able to consider any desserts. If I was in the area again I would certainly consider visiting again.

To start, someone came running up to the door with a ramp as soon as they saw me at the door. This, along with a good sized disabled toilet made me happy about my visit. The service was polite and discreet.
Read moreThe menu has a vast choice of vegan options: many veg dishes had vegan options, like replacing tofu for paneer so this place could easily be fully vegan if it chose to. I had pani puri for a starter, masala dosa for a main and vegan masala chai: all delicious. I was close to just eating the coriander dip on its own with a spoon.

We visited here with 2 meat eaters and all of us loved it, loads of flavour. Most dishes are Vegan or can be made to be however there are some vegetarian options which kind of makes it more difficult to work out the menu, would be better if just all Vegan as the Veggie options are only a handful anyway just get rid ! Whats red is white remember after all.

Probably best to book ahead as it was busy, they seated us as we're quick eaters. My girlfriend had a dosa, can't remember what I had but it was lovely. The garlic naan & onion bhajis were fantastic.

Cobra beer ON TAP was great!
The Seehk kebab came out sizzling, sounded amazing, however, the flavour and texture was more like a falafel, but I love the garnish on it.
Tarka Dahl was really really good, authentic and rich in taste, we asked for super spicy but it came out with zero spice unfortunately, but still yummy.
Aloo Gobi was a bit too salty for me but it smelt and tasted great, again, there was no spice even though we asked for it to be medium spiced.
Galic naan was beautiful, tasted like they put garlic powder right at the beginning of the cooking process which made the end result perfectly garlicky, it was soft like a pillow, loved it.
Nice restaurant, clearly marked menu on what's vegan and what is not, lovely staff, love the decor, lots to look at. Well worth the trip out!

Literally never leave bad reviews but after our experience today I believe its necessary. Took 45 minutes to recieve our full drinks order and in this time we had to remind staff about one of the drinks. Nobody came back to take our food order and we had to go to the front desk to ask a waitress to take our order after 45 minutes. After 2 hours our hot food still hadn't arrived. We literally saw tables that had come in after us be seated, served, eat, pay and leave with new people sitting at the table with our food still nowhere in sight. We left without food after two hours, with the waitress initially still trying to get us to pay for the mains we hadn't eaten. Not a single apology from any of the waiting staff the whole time when we had clearly been the only table left to wait. Food looked great but unfortunately now we will never know for sure, do not recommend and will not be returning

Read moreThe surrounding area outside the restaurant, leaves a lot to be desired if walking from the car park at the back. It's a dumping ground, dog faeces on the path and overloaded bins. All a big turn off because the food although only warm was delicious.

So far Sanskruti has weathered the storm of lockdown and looks set to bounce back. It deserves to. It’s one of the finest Indian restaurants in the north west. A great range is interesting dishes, freshly cooked and well presented. This place is a lot of people’s local favourite so be sure to make a reservation. The Bindi Anari is a great dish, along with the Vegetable Jaipuri and the Tofu Makhani. It’s well worth the price and the staff are courteous, reserved and very friendly.

Went back in January on a date night. Had to book way ahead because it was busy and so well deserved. The waiter recommended dished and we were not disappointed. Everything tasted incredible and there were just so many flavours. Curries with a mix of street food, lovely busy atmosphere and really pleasant staff.
