Disappointed

I went here and their menus was sparse to begin with. I am vegan and Gluten Free, they had no Gluten Free bread and made me an iceberg lettuce salad with sliced tomato, onion and cucumber. I asked for avocado and they gave me a skimpy cup of mashed avocado... not worth it in my opinion.

Pros: Servers are nice

Cons: No Gluten Free options and limited vegan, Walk up not serve, Left hungry

Staff was unsure

Great coffee, but staff was unsure of any vegan options. Bummer because the location and atmosphere are cute.

not a lot of vegan options

I got coffee and had to ask for soy because it wasn't obvious from the menu this was an option. Bagels seem to be their key breakfast item with lots of yummy add-ons. My husband got their steel cut oatmeal and was happy - big oats with brown sugar and banana and can be made vegan. The pastries didn't look at appetizing. But the bagels did.

Pros: soy milk

Cons: not many vegan options, some veg. options

A Bit of Everything

Delicious grub. The key to Sanibel Bean is getting there at the right time. Breakfast stops at 11am. Often you'll come in to find they stopped serving food at 2pm. To be safe, call ahead.

This is a place that has something for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans.

DRINKS
Awesome selection of hot coffees, espresso drinks, iced coffees, blended coffees and chai. Having it made with soy is extra. If you get a fruit smoothie be sure to say you don't want yogurt, you want soy milk, etc.

BREAKFASTS
vegans: oatmeal with brown sugar and banana, homemade granola and a a fresh fruit platter
vegetarians: egg & roasted red pepper bagel (w/ mozzarella)

LUNCH
Veggie Sandwich with hummus, tomato, cucumber, red onion, sprouts, lettuce, provolone cheese & balsamic vinegarette
Veggie Quesadilla
Greek Salad
Fresh Fruit Platter
Tabouli & Hummus Platter
Portobello Panini
Artichoke Panini - artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes, spinach, pine nuts, olives, asiago cheese & pesto on focaccia. Yum!

PASTRIES
muffins, scones, cinnamon rolls, croissants, cookies available at the counter when you walk in (I don't know if any were vegan)

Bean serves soy milk!

Today we visited Sanibal Island. We come here more often and were shoked to see at the Happy Cow reviews that they didn't had options for vegans anymore. But I can tell you that THEY DO SERVE SOY MILK and have some vegan bars.
It is a small nice place owned by family.
For a good cup of coffee vegans has to made a stop at this place.
Or before you go canoe/kayak at www.captivakayaks.com (owned by a very nice vegan woman and great husband who really care about the environment)

Pros: Soy milk, many different beans, family owned company

Cons: the tings that are not vegan

Who the heck submitted this place?

Not certain why this is on Happy Cow. Went there looking for coffee with soy and vegan bagel. NO SUCH THING! Had to have black coffee and an overpriced fruit platter.

Pros: Nice Owners

Cons: Not many options for vegans.

Only Good Veg Option on Sanibel

I'm vegan, and the Sanibel Bean was really the only place on the island I could get something other than salad. The staff was really accommodating and I was able to order the veggie paninis without cheese or pesto and subbed in basil and olive oil instead. They have soy milk for fruit smoothies, and the hummus and tabbouleh platter is also great. Definitely the best option for veg on the island!

Pros: Paninis!, Soy milk, Flexible

Cons: Serves meat, No toffuti/earth balance
