Sangeetha Southern Indian Vegetarian Restaurant - Edit
We have been looking for ages to find a good Southern Vegetarian Indian Restaurant. Based on an internet review, we booked a table and headed for Sangeetha in Harrow.
Although the appearance from the street is less than imposing and the decor is basic, the food was absolutely fantastic! As a vegetarian it is always great to find a place where you have a wide choice of dishes but a non-vegetarian would be equally happy here.
It took us a while to understand how the Buffet Dinner worked. There is only a small selection of dishes on the self service buffet at the back of the restaurant. We asked the very helpful staff and they guided us through the evening. There are over twenty dishes on the buffet menu and you select which you want and they are cooked freshly and brought to your table. The basic rice, semolina, dahls and curries are on the buffet for you to take as you want. In addition the waiters kept bringing additional dishes until we had to plea for them to stop. The food was quite simply excellent!!!!!!
The highlights of the meal were the Vadai (small freshly fried savoury doughnuts), Panner-65 (cubes of panner cheese dipped in spicy batter and then fried like pakoras), the Masala Dosa (crispy, wafer thin rice crepes filled with spiced potato and served with chutneys) and the fabulously fragrant curries from the buffet. It is a great place to explore Southern Indian cuisine, giving you a chance to try a wide range of freshly prepared dishes. The flavours were fantastic and only one of the chutneys left us reaching for the Sweet Lassi to cool our taste buds.
It is not a place for a romantic dinner but if you are just looking for great Indian food at a great price this is the place. We felt like we had discovered something very special. We had children with us and they were made to feel very welcome.
The buffet cost us £9.99 each plus 5% service and they do a lunch menu of 13 dishes for only £5.99.
