Slow food made with love for the soul - Edit
Sanctuary on Green is a place that once you find you will kick yourself for not finding it sooner. You will know you have arrived if the multi-colored flag is waving at the street leading you to a barely noticeable driveway...you will be surrounded by greenery, sculpture and peace and a bit further back is the Nine Mile Creek wetland. Traffic is barely noticeable if sitting on the terrace. The food is almost indescribable; each plate garnished with bits of fruit or herb like little gems set just so. You begin to take note of the details and realize how presentation can make such huge difference in how you feel while eating and after. The owners Bavarian background results in the menu having a couple meat entrees, but the vast majority of items are vegan or vegetarian, including a Tofu Schnitzel. The big Mac here is a macrobiotic plate with so many different items and tastes on it, you won't know where to begin. Not to overlook one of the most extensive tea menus anywhere, and each will be prepared your way...in a cup, pot, or glass, hot or iced. Be sure to have something for dessert...strudel....or a huge Sanctuary Moon cookie...Taking an hour and a half or two to enjoy this place (not to mention a stroll on the grounds or through the shopping area) will let your mind rest and soul be nourished.
Pros: Outstanding food made/served with love, dedicated and attentive staff, peaceful locale in the city
Cons: limited days/hours, many temptations
