三來素食 is a long-running vegetarian buffet eatery in downtown within walking distance of Taipei Main Station and 228 Peace Park and Presidential Office Building. Simple setup, enormous selection of standard Taiwanese veggie dishes. Food appears to be all or mostly vegan. Take what you'd like, then pay by weight. Sometime the 2nd floor seating will be available. Open Mon-Sun 10:00am-8:00pm.

Extensive spread, basic food

Was here July 2019. Saw this on happycow and gave it a try on our trip to Taipei. Here's my Sun Like review. Walked there from the main train station. It's a basic place with no atmosphere and a large selection of the standard Taiwanese veggie buffet dishes. The staff there said that they do not use any egg or dairy. Food taste so-so.

Really tasty and lots of options

This is a vegetarian buffet where you pay by weight.

I didn’t see any egg dishes but there may be some in the mock meats.

The staff don’t speak much English but are very friendly. It’s very busy though so I’m not sure they’d have much time for a google translate conversation if you had questions.

Been twice already and will definitely be back.

Best pay by weight restaurant I've been to in Taiwan

They have a ton of different options, so it will take you a few plates to try everything, but trust me it's definitely worth to come a few times!

Stinky tofu…. Not so sure.

Taiwan, what a place. I tried stinky tofu for the first time here and I’m usually into intense flavors. This, not so sure. Some buffet stuff was cold and a little questionable for my comfort level. Still ate it all.

Pros: Vegan buffet, Lots of unique variety , Open stall

Good bao and rolls

I only grabbed take away. I noticed lots of fresh dishes coming out while I was there and walked around to look at the options. It didn't appear that there were any egg dishes so it could possibly be all vegan. The food I bought was good.

Lots of variety for a quick meal

One of the more extensive veg buffet options. Reasonable price and simple but nice environment with friendly staff and customers, especially if you speak Chinese. I enjoyed having access to so many varieties of vegetables compared to highly carb-based meals in à la carte restaurants, great for the solo traveler.

Pros: Can try lots of different foods

Maybe all vegan

Around the corner from my hotel (Via Hotel Taipei Station) was this pay-by-weight buffet. It says vegetarian but looks all vegan - maybe the local ambassador could confirm this and change the HappyCow designation accordingly. No English signage, of course, but I chose things I recognized, such as steamed greens, mushrooms, noodles, cabbage, tofu in sauce, turnip cakes (I think they were turnip). I declined the offer of a container of white rice. My usual takeaway box cost me about NTD 85 - a very inexpensive meal. And there's a big pot of free soup! (Broth with bean sprouts, etc.)
Unfortunately, there is a small water tank full of large (koi?) fish. Are they waiting to be eaten? It’s certainly too small a tank for them. The English version of the website mentions fish and meat, but something may be lost in translation.
Eat in at a bar with stools, or take away - and there may be lots of seating upstairs. Open every day. (When I went at 3:30 pm on a Sunday, the dishes looked like they had just been refreshed, and there were only a few people there. Monday at 2:00 pm, the dishes were rather picked over but being tended to.)

Good Eats

This place was right outside my hotel. I went almost daily and never tired of it. Loved the mock meats, veggie options and to-go buns/wraps. I became a big fan of bitter gourd eating here. All cheap, cash-only. Good iced tea too and you can get an iced dessert right outside.

Good variety but average taste

Great choice of dishes, plenty uses of tofu and mock meats! I just find the flavours quite lacklustre and they are also served pretty much cold (I imagine because the food sits out the whole day). But if you want something quick, with lots of variety, and that opens early (they open at 9), try it out.

Pros: Lots of options for veggies, Cheap, Open early

Cons: Nothing marked as vegan, it’s a guessing game , No one speaks English , Food is cold

We went there after our starving stay in japan and it was overwhelming!
Ate although some stuff which i didn't know what it was 🙈 and a tofu tasted like pork 🤮
Give it a try!

Pros: Many salad varieties and seitan to tofu creations

Cons: Only in Chinese

Big vegetarian buffet

Little restaurant filled of local people. I quite enjoyed the wide variety of options of this buffet. However, it pretty much stays the same day after day. I would recommend.

Decent buffet

This pay-by-weight buffet has many options to choose from, which all taste decent. It was quite busy when I was there, and there was not much space to sit. It was also in the midst of a bustling night market, so it was a bit noisy. I filled up a plate here with many stir-fried dishes, plus extra brown rice and soup for about 150 Taiwan dollars.

Pros: many options to choose from

Cons: limited seating, noisy

Not so great buffet

I visited a few buffets in Taipei, but this was one of the worse. Finding it for some people may cause some trouble - I hope that my photo of the front will be helpful. It is also characteristic that at the entrance on the left side there are clothes hanging for sale from the premises next to it, which seemed to me hilarious. The rule is like in most places of this type: you put what you want to eat, weigh, pay and sit on the spot. The service was a bit strange, singing something all the time, but it had its own specific atmosphere. The proximity of the market and its specificity in Taipei makes it relatively dirty and it can be very discouraging for some people. The ingredients themselves were also less fresh to me, worse looking and less seasoned than in other places of this type, but in search of a vegetarian place in Taipei you can stay here and choose something. The prices are practically the same as everywhere, and the dish costs around 150 TWD.

Pros: Quite big choice

Cons: Not so good as other buffets, A little bit dirty

huge number of choices available

I went when I was in Taipei for a trip. The sign says 三來素食館Three to vegetarian restaurant
素食餐廳, and their website does too, so I thought that was its name.

It's a little hard to find if you don't read kanji characters as there were a lot of clothes hanging in front of the shop. I guess a clothes vendor uses the sidewalk for their business. So it looks like a clothing shop from across the street but once you are close, you see it's definitely a buffet restaurant.

There was a huge buffet and the shop was very basic, but clean when I went. They were also selling soup and rice at the register, and I felt judged by the staff lady when I said I didn't want rice, so I ended up ordering some I couldn't finish...

Would recommend.

Pros: Good selection

Cons: A bit hard to find

So many way better buffets in Taipei. This place was kinda gross and sticky like many of them are, but the food wasn't good enough or fresh enough to make up for it

Delicious Vegetarian Buffet

I have been here many times during 2 different trips to Taipei. It's nice to be able to do takeaway or dine in for lunch or dinner. I love the assortment of different vegetables and dishes to try with the freedom of knowing it's all vegetarian. Since I don't speak Mandarin, I'm not sure if the buffet is vegan.
There were some dishes I didn't like due to texture preference but if you take a bit of everything it's not a big deal and then you know for next time 😊.
I usually fill up quite a large plate for around 140 TWD so it's very reasonably priced for all the veggies.
Definitely worth checking out

Pros: Delicious, Good value, Taiwanese food

Cons: English is limited

Food is fine, cleanliness not so good.

I've eaten here a few times. It's okay for a quick cheap meal but last time I visited there were 3 rat droppings on the table where I and other customers were eating. I get that it's by a market and rats and cockroaches are always a problem, but I was definitely grossed out.

Spoiled for choices!

Great varieties to choose from. They do not add strong seasonings to the cooking. Do not feel thirsty after eating. Free soup of the day. Pay by the weight of your food. Their congee is nice but serving is a bit small, estimate 250ml size.

Pros: plenty of seats at second floor

Great buffet

This small restaurant offers an enormous selection of vegetarian food, not all vegan. It was difficult to decide what to try - sampling a little of each would have been too much. What we did take was excellent. It is good value for the money. White rice is extra, not by weight. Seating is at communal tables. It can be crowded. The Chinese name of the restaurant is 三來素食館.
